A Bill in
Support of Less Parking Tickets
Authored and Sponsored by
Sen. Sajid A. Khan
Whereas: The city of Berkeley, particularly in areas
close to the UC Campus, is a very difficult place to find parking, particularly
parking that is affordable for students, and
Whereas: Sajid A. Khan owns a 2000 Nissan Altima that
he uses and operates in the City of Berkeley, resulting in hundreds of dollars
worth of parking tickets, issued both by the city of Berkeley as well as UC
Berkeley authorities, and
Whereas: Sajid Khan’s car is used by many in the Cal
Community, providing great service to many students, including a number of ASUC
officials, with rides being provided to and from late Senate and Committee
meetings, and
Whereas: The car is also known as the biggest “slut”
of Berkeley, rides being given "easily" to everyone and anyone,
primarily Berkeley students, for purposes of grocery shopping, rides to
airports, to make it on time to classes, further enriching the educational
experience of our students, and
Whereas: Sajid has been late to Committee meetings
due to the difficult nature of parking around the Berkeley campus, resulting in
less than desirable productivity, and
Whereas: Sajid promises to provide rides to all those
who need them, provided the request is reasonable and presented politely;
Resolved: The office of the ASUC Executive Vice
President arrange to provide Sen. Sajid Khan a parking permit for his Nissan
Altima to park in the lot below Eshleman Hall, for the remainder of the year,
free of charge so he can better serve students through the means of his
automobile.
