College classes nowadays use the internet to post
material online and to communicate easily with the students. Material that
is taught in lecture can easily be accessed online by the students and can
also be webcasted so that students can just watch the lecture from their
cozy bedrooms. Also teachers use email to communicate with students to
inform them about upcoming events. Overall, the use of the internet has had
an impact on the convenience of teaching and learning.
We need to figure out whether the internet will be a complement to teaching
and learning or just a substitute for classroom education in order to see
whether we should promote or limit the use of internet in college classes
in the future. This research will illustrate the pros and cons of internet
use as a complement to teaching and learning and also suggest ways for
preventing too much reliance on it in the near future.
