Eggster is an on-campus student group and is composed of three committees: Finance, Event, Public Community Relations. Each of these committees provides an opportunity for members to develop an array of skills in leadership, communication, community networking, event planning, advertising, and fundraising. Our activities include planning our annual, free, on-campus Eggster Hunt and Learning Festival, going on volunteer outreaches in the Berkeley area, and raising money for our agencies.
Each committee is made up of two leaders ("Eggheads") and about 3-5 members. The two "Overalls" are the leaders in charge of the "Eggheads" and the Social/Admin "Eggheads" have their own responsibilities but do not head a committee.
The Event Committee accounts for just that, the event. Every year, their creative minds come up with a theme and about 30 corresponding booths for the children to enjoy. They not only research and create learning and activity booths, but also acquire the necessary materials and supplies through in-kind donations. They also train the 300 volunteers through orientations about a month before the big day. They design the egg hunts and have recently added obstacle courses to physically challenge the children.
The Public Community Relations Committee (PCR) consists of the recent combinations of two committees: Public Relations (PR) and Community Relations (Comrel). PCR deals with both the public and the community aspects of the organization. PCR advertise for our event directly to low-income elementary schools, and are involved throughout the entire process of inviting, choosing, and working with our beneficiaries. PCR is also responsible for attaining food and candy donations for the egg hunt. In doing so we work with small businesses as well as large corporations. PCR networks with elementary schools, small businesses, corporations, and non-profits in the Bay Area.
The Social Historian and Technology chair records minutes, organizes social events, and compiles a scrapbook at the end of the year. SHA also designs and periodically updates Eggster's website, which is essential for communication within the student group and with the greater university and Bay Area community.

For Volunteers
Volunteer at the event:
We would greatly appreciate your participation at the 2011 Eggster Hunt and Learning Festival! Student volunteers will be asked to supervise learning booths or conduct egghunts. You will be interacting with the kids and showing them how cool college is! You can also volunteer along with other members in your student group. The day is divided into 3 shifts: 8:00-11:00, 10:30-1:30, and 1:00-4:00. Students may participate in one, two, or all three shifts. Email eggsterevent@gmail.com now if you wish to volunteer!
Volunteer at a prop building session:
Want to take a break from school and use your creativity? The Event Booth and Prop Building Sessions will be on Saturdays (Check the announcements on the first page for exact datess, time, and location). The name says it all. We build props and booths for the Eggster Hunt and Learning Festival. You can come in at any point during this time period and paint banners, make booth activities or event props. Even if you aren't too creative, we'll be able to find a project for you. Everyone is welcome to help out; you don't need to be an Eggster member or volunteering at the Eggster Hunt and Learning Festival. Email eggsterevent@gmail.com if you have any questions.
