.....1. President
The president oversees the general operation of the officer corps, including engineering-wide events such as New Student Orientation, the Buddy Program, E-Day, E-Week and Cal Day, and committees: Financial, Corporate Liaison, Alumni Relations, Public Relations, Outreach, E-Week, and Facilities. The president is also an ASUC agent with the treasurer, and serves on the Financial Committee. In addition, the president must be able to coordinate relations with the College of Engineering, the ASUC and ASUC senators, the 24 other engineering groups, the University, and the general engineering populace. He/she must have a passion for honesty, fairness, and diplomacy/peace-making, being open-minded to new opportunities, connecting people with resources, and valuing the good of the entire engineering community above individual club interests.
.....2. 3. Co-Vice-President
The Vice President of EJC plays a major role in the planning and organization of events that are sponsored by the CoE such as Eday, Eweek, Cal Day, etc. The VP also works with the president to structure the officer core. The EJC VP is in charge of planning and executing Engineering Week. Eweek is the largest engineering joint event held on campus, and lasts an entire week (4/17-4/20). This position is plays a major role in building connections throughout the engineering community at Berkeley.
.....4. Treasurer
The role of the EJC treasurer is to head the finance committee and essentially makes sure those student groups represented by EJC receive funding. The Treasurer collaborates with treasurers and presidents from all engineering groups and competition teams. Also, the treasurer acts as a liaison for the student groups to the College of Engineering, along with the ASUC. The Treasurer’s main responsibilities are to make sure that the mid-year as well as the yearly budget are compiled from the different student groups and turned in on time in order to receive funding. One looking to apply for EJC Treasurer should be organized and easy to contact with a turnaround time of <24 hours for emails.
.....5. Secretary
The main responsibility of the EJC secretary is to manage and maintain the EJC list serve. This includes informing all Engineering Societies of upcoming events through the EJC ANNOUNCE, a weekly email sent out to the list serve. The secretary also organizes the minutes taken during weekly officer meetings and monthly general meetings. The final duty of the secretary is to update the EJC calendar on the EJC website with events and deadlines for various engineering societies.
.....6. IT Officer/ Webmaster
The IT Officer is charge of maintaining an up-to-date online presence for EJC, AKA the website. He/she will need to update the website regularly with any information that is requested by other EJC officers. The IT Officer should also strive to improve the layout and appearance of the website. Past experience with web design is recommended, but not required. This is an excellent opportunity to combine technical expertise with real-life responsibilities.
.....7. Facilities Officer
The facilities chair is in charge of managing the resources in 101 Bechtel, as well as 101 Bechtel itself. This includes administering fair use of the room and its resources by different groups, holding meetings to discuss the use of the room and resources, managing the arrangement of the room, and organizing and keeping track of EJC resources.
