VARIATIONS OF WEBSITE HOSTING
My interest in computers has lead me to take a class about Web Hosting. I really thought I knew a lot about the internet and web design and building, but there is always more to learn in this amazing field, and I think that is what I like most about it. There are many different Variations of Website Hosting, but many people opt for free web hosting, the reason for this is obviously because it is free.
When choosing a free web host, there are some things you should know before deciding which host to go with.
1. You should know what type of advertising they will be adding to your site. Free web hosting, means that they have the right to advertise on your web page, so you need to know if they will be doing this with pop ups, banners, or an advertising box. This way you can choose whichever you are most comfortable with.
2. Verify that they will provide you with enough space for your needs. If you will be using a lot of pictures on your site, then you will need more space than if you are just primarily using text. All this needs to be considered to insure that they not only have enough space for your site now, but for your future needs as well.
3. Know the limits on the host site. Some sites will limit the size of the files that you can upload and some put restrictions on the type of files you can add, having knowledge of these limits will allow you to choose a web hosting service that is right for you.
4. Find out about their reliability and speed of access. This can be done by talking with someone who is already using this service, or you can try it yourself for free, and if you find that it doesn't run well than switch. Research shows that people won't wait for your site when it is down and they don't want to wait forever for your page to load. This can result in a loss of potential business, so even if you have to try it first, make sure it is working well at all hours of the day and night. This is important to give your site a good start.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of great free PHP web hosting sites as well as free image hosting websites, so be sure to shop around and make sure that you find the web host that is right for your needs. They are not one size fits all.
INCREDIBLE DEALS ON ROCA WEAR CLOTHING
Recently, I decided that campus life just wasn't for me and so I decided that I was going to move off campus. I had a few dollars tucked away and really wanted to get out of the dorms. I just got frustrated with the whole spoiled kid attitude. Don't get me wrong, I like nice things, but it seemed that everyone who was living in the dorms had unlimited funding and I was struggling just to get by. I didn't mind all their new Roca Wear clothing, it was nice, but I could barely afford new socks, much less new designer clothing. Okay, so it sounds like I am jealous and the truth is I am. My father died when I was a junior in high school, and although we weren't rich, we had all the best clothes and everything that we wanted, but then after my dad died, leaving us a very small savings and no life insurance plan, we began to struggle. Mom went to work, but she hadn't been in the workforce in years, and so she really didn't make much to speak of. We had enough money for food, but nice clothing just wasn't in the budget unless we made the money on our own. I got a job and was able to pick up a decent wardrobe for myself, but since I have come to school, on grants and loans, any money that I am making is going towards my living expenses, which honestly is another reason I am leaving the dorms. I find that it is actually more costly for me to not be able to prepare my own meals. I need to have the freedom of living on my own, and I have found a modest place only a few minutes from campus and the girl I am going to be rooming with is great. She is a struggling student like myself, and she told be about a second hand shop that you can get Roca Wear clothing and many other designer clothing for less. I can't wait to go shopping with her, she seems like she is on the same page as me...Broke!
Wheelchairs
When my sister was in 7th grade she had a bone infection and they had to take part of the bone in her ankle out. She had a huge surgery done and then she was in the hospital for about a week or so. When we could finally take her home, she had to be in a wheelchair for weeks before she could be on crutches and then back on her feet after therapy.
When we were leaving the hospital she had to be driven home by one of the handicap vans that they provided, because her bones were too weak to be lifted in and out of the chair so she just stayed seated and they would hook the chair up into the lift and then she would sit in the wheelchair buckled in the whole ride.
When we got home though we obviously didn't have one of those vans (I'm pretty sure at the time we still had a Porsche and a mustang that my parents didn't give up for SUV's until like 3 years later) so we had to rent one of the wheelchair vans from the hospital so she could be taken to and from doctors appointments.
It was sad to see her like that because it was hard for her to get around school (especially since she wasn't used to the wheelchair) and she was a really active person before so she would get really restless and annoyed easily. It was hard to find things for her to do that were fun because all of her other friends were at a sports practice or out (well they visited her of course) but there wasn't too much that she could do.
Finally she went on to start using crutches and we got rid of the handicapped vans (I think my parents were thankful because they were really hard to drive and they were afraid of getting into an accident and hurting her more). But she was on the crutches for awhile and she went to therapy and she was finally able to walk normally again about 3 months later, even though it seemed like 3 years to our family. But now she's in college and you can't even tell that she has had surgery, they said if she grew unevenly then they would have to go in and fix the other leg too because the injury was close to her growth plate, but thankfully she's still pretty even.
Kids these Days
I remember when I was in grade school (I know I sound like my grand parents) and we had to wear a uniform to school. On our out of uniform days it always had to be something appropriate and we were never allowed to put on makeup for school or carry around purses.
Now when you look at these younger kids (like in middle school and junior high) they are wearing North Face jackets and UGG boots (it is so crazy because you know they're going to grow out of that expensive stuff in like 2 months) and they are carrying around designer purses. The other day my roommate and I were at our universities boys' volleyball game and we saw these little girls (they had to be around 12 or 13) at the game all dressed up with a ton of makeup on and their designer clothes and purses talking on their cell phones. It is weird to think how different things are now than they were only ten years ago when I was that age. We acted so differently, and I am now finally starting to understand when my grandparents talk about kids these days.
What really blew my mind though was when I saw this ad for a store (that I shop at now as an adult) that sells lingerie especially for tweens. First of all what is a tween? I asked around and I guess it is like the age right before you become a teen or first become one so like between ages ten and 13 or something around there. It shocked me though that they were making lingerie just for this age group. No wonder people are having sex younger and younger now. I can't even imagine the parents that would allow their 12 year old daughter to go out and buy that, but clearly there are people who do, because it is still in business.
It is just so shocking to see how things have changed and to be honest, downgrading. I know it is all about business and selling products, but really? Can't they target someone other than tweens for their product? I know enough adults that are buying lingerie that could make up for all the loss of the tween sales. It is just devastating to even hear about this kind of stuff going on.
