orovo

Thursday, July 31, 2008 9:25 AM, Jen

This summer, since I am home till the last week of August, I have been helping my mother with her new business endeavor. She has been working hard to start up her new franchise for this website of products called Orovo. This is a site that specializes in healthy supplements for all of you needs. She is getting really gung ho about this project because she is both a very savvy person when it comes to managing people and business, and she also has a passion for healthy living and anything having to do with things like health food. When she stumbled across this site one day and found out their program to work as a salesperson from home, she called me right in the middle of one of my classes to tell me. She of course left a lengthy message about it and about how I should help her. I promised that I would, but not until I came home after the first summer session. Now the time has come and I have been really enjoying myself doing this kind of work. Her work for Orovo is a much better set-up than any of the other projects she has tried before.

My mother has always been a health conscious person who is very concerned about everything she puts in and on her body. For this reason I have also tried to live my life in the exact same way. I think that this is why she and I both find interest in this product regardless of who is taking it. We actually get to talk to people who are seeking the same kinds of healthy lives that my mother and I are. We hear them and we understand where they are coming from. It is a great feeling to give them these Orovo products which for us have shown a noticeable difference in our health.

For me my big test for any supplement like this is to try it out for two weeks while trying a new physical activity for that same time. As the weeks go on I should notice some kind of a change in my performance either better or worse. For the Orovo products I have been jogging and my times for the same circuit have been getting better while the run gets easier and easier.

a good title

Every time you turn on the television now you see an ad for acne treatment or some sort of magic cream that will make your wrinkles go away. People buy into a lot of the scams out there hoping they can get their wrinkles to disappear overnight, like the model in the advertisements did. While I absolutely believe that there are several great acne treatments out there, I find it hard to jump on the wrinkle removing wagon. Instead of hoping for a wrinkle treatment years from now, you should just try and take care of your skin the best you can, by using sunscreen. Not only will that help to prevent wrinkles, but it will help to prevent yourself from getting skin cancer as well. The other thing is who said wrinkles were bad? It is a natural part of the aging process to wrinkle as you get older, and I think because we see more and more famous people in the media having surgeries done or having ‘perfect' bodies, we feel like that is the way it is supposed to be. But everyone's body is different and ages differently and at its own pace, so you should never compare yourself to others, especially someone you see on television. Another thing I think is really big right now is having celebrities advertise acne treatments. I can't remember the specific brand, but there is one acne treatment that is advertised by Jessica Simpson, as well as a few other famous singers or actresses. This is a way for you to buy their product and think, “I can be like Jessica” or whoever is doing the ad. That particular celebrity now has a ton of confidence and can get up on stage and sing in front of thousands of people without having to worry about their acne, and now you feel like if you buy that product you somehow have that ability too.

It is wonderful that companies are coming up with products like acne treatments and different wrinkle creams that can help people feel better about themselves. But I hope that when advertising these products, companies think about the affect their advertisement has on the hopes of the consumer. If it works for Jessica Simpson magically on television, but the consumer, who is probably in their teens, gets that product home and it doesn't work, they may feel even worse about themselves than they did before.

skin treatments

Tuesday, July 22, 2008 10:48 AM, Jen

These days it seems that more and more people are suffering with some significant acne. If you think about it with the rise of fast food and more junk food in the diet of the average American, it is no wonder why so many people are winding up with such significant skin conditions. The good news is that there are many new and inexpensive acne treatments available now without a prescription. In years past, it used to be you had to go to your general practitioner and they had to refer you to a dermatologist and then you had to wait months for an appointment and after a few hundred dollars you would have a prescription for your acne. Now in addition to the millions of over the counter medicines that treat acne, there are many mail order products that you can have delivered right to your door.

Moreover, from what I am hearing the results of some of these products are amazing. People with acne are finally getting some relief in the form of clearer, healthier skin. It is a great advancement that people with acne can now come out of hiding and feel good about themselves and finally hold their heads up high. Although acne is seemingly just a superficial condition of the skin, the scars run much deeper. Being covered in acne can affect a person's social life and self confidence. Lacking self confidence can cause a person to avoid intimacy and thus spend much time alone and isolated. If this person is a teenager the effects of severe acne can be made even worse by the taunting and nasty comments by classmates and peers. These emotional scars of childhood can carry well into adulthood. The teenage years can be very emotionally difficult on the spirit, and having to walk around with a scared face just adds to the turmoil.

Many people don't have a choice about their physical body, but with acne their is a choice. With all the wonderful acne treatments products available, there is no need to go another day with that embarrassing acne. Get yourself some acne products and get yourself on the road to self confidence.

cheap insurance

These days you should not pay more for your car insurance then you absolutely have to. The cost of commuting has become very expensive with the cost of fuel going through the roof and the price of everything going up. Here are some tips on getting cheap car insurance:

1. No accidents for the past few years? See if your insurance company has a discount for great drivers. If not, shop around and see if you can get a discount with another company who does.

2. Have other insurance policies? Try combining them under one company and see what kind of response you get. Pool your life, home, health and auto insurance under one roof and you could see considerable savings.

3. How about other cars? Make sure your company is giving you a discount for insuring your fleet of two or three cars.

4. What about the preventative stuff? Depending on the state you are in, you may be eligible for a discount if your car has airbags, an alarm system, etc. So be sure to check with your insurance company on this.

5. What about my credit report? These days most insurance companies will pull your credit report to help determine your car insurance rate, so if you know that you have done some things to clean up your credit then be sure to let them know and they can check it again and maybe reduce your rate.

6. What about your education level? This has a definite impact on your car insurance rate, so be sure if you are furthering your education that you update that information with your insurance company as well to get the best possible rate available.

7. Should I change insurance companies? It is a good idea to check out the competitive rates at least every 6 months. If you find a better rate with another company, see if you can get your current company to match or even beat the rate. A lot of insurance companies will do this to keep you from switching.

Things like this can really affect your premiums and keeping your insurance company up on any changes in your life can really help you out in the long run. Keep in mind if you change jobs or stop working that you provide your insurance company with this information as well. This may seem like a hassle but if it keeps more money in your pocket and less in the insurance company's pocket, then it is worth the effort.

Taking diet pills can be a very helpful tool in losing weight. You must be careful not to take more than the recommended dose and they must be used along with eating right and exercising for the best possible results. Diet pills are good to take at the beginning of a new diet regimen to help jump start your metabolism and get the ball rolling. Losing weight especially in the beginning helps motivate the person to stay on the diet and keep going. Many people give up on a diet in the first few weeks, because they see little or no results. The frustration is more than they can bare and so they fall right back into their bad habits all over again.

Being overweight can be a very deadly issue. Most people think about the cosmetic reasons for weight loss, but very few think about the health risks. Diseases such as stroke, heart attack, diabetes, and high blood pressure all can be directly attributed to diet, exercise, and weight. There is a direct correlation between these illness and a person's lack of taking care of themselves. The best thing a person who is overweight can do is to start losing weight, eating better and exercising. These things can not only make them feel and look better, but can also prolong their life.

More than 58 million people are overweight in this country and more than 40 million are obese. There are 3 million people who are morbidly obese and about 78% of American's are not meeting the basic activity level recommendations. Eight out of every 10 people over the age of 25 is overweight and 25% of American's are completely Sedentary (no activity at all) and there has been a 76% increase in type II diabetes in adults 30-40 years old since 1990.

These statistics are staggering. Now is the time to take action and if you are one of these overweight people, it is your time to take action. Stop being a statistic and start yourself on a road to a healthier, happier and more energetic future. Start yourself on a weight loss program today, before it is too late.

To make up for lost money over the summer when classes are out and the jobs are few an far between, there are lots of jobs that are more than willing to take some student help for a few months out of the year. There are plenty of restaurants around town that feel both a slow down in their customer base and a slow down in the number of people who are willing to work the long hot days around the oven. There are also plenty of students owned companies that do yard work or painting for locals and these usually hire their new employees during the summer. With these companies though, there is a lot of competition for the spots and there is much less room for taking days off. There are never a shortage of people willing and able to work these jobs.

There are also some more nontraditional jobs that would love to take a summer of work from a young, smart college student. These jobs are more thought of as jobs reserved for those who cannot or never wanted to go to college. The job that I am doing right now is a great example of one of these jobs. I work as an assistant to a bank technology specialist. I got the job because I told them about my IST major and how I want to do something similar. Our job is basically to travel around to repairs various credit card machines and credit card terminals. For the job I had to learn how the credit card processing actions take place. I also had to learn how to inventory merchant accounts for those who own the establishments in which the machines are housed.

I know that these jobs are more about manual labor than something too interesting, but when you are a poor student, you need something that pays well and these jobs certainly do. Though we are trying our best to get experience that will further our careers, it may not hurt us to get some experience working at a job we have to try to enjoy for a little while.

I got a letter from an old buddy today but there was an interesting mix-up that came along with it. My buddy who sent the letter is over in Germany right now working on his graduate school research in German history during world war two. He does a lot of trips like this during the year and so when he goes he always makes sure to send back letter for those of us that really care what he's doing at that point. He and I used to teach yoga together but we have both had to stop due to the increasing weight of work and school schedules that just don't let up on either of us.

In this latest letter he had forgotten one big part of our correspondence history; I don't speak German. The entire letter was in German and I have been putting it all together through a process of using my little pocket German to English dictionary that he got me a few years back. I am no good with German so I am still working on part of it. The section I do have translated I will just put here in German, you'll see why. At this point in the letter he is telling me about this woman the he is seeing over there who works as a model for some big make-up company. He wrote this about her:

So If you could understand that, which I now can, he is apparently stretching his boarders to include some new types of people in to his life. I just hope he remembers when he gets back that I still don't speak German.

life insurance

Friday, July 11, 2008 10:01 AM, Jen

Purchasing life insurance is a very interesting process. In order to sell you life insurance they want to know everything about you. They want to know everything from have you ever been sick to have you ever had a hang nail. The problem is that basically they want to hear that you never go to the doctor, which if you think about it, is really no guarantee of health, but they are happy if you have never been diagnosed with anything. Some life insurance policies make you undergo a physical and some just require a blood test. The problem is that life insurance quotes can vary so greatly it is hard to discern which policy is going to be best suited to your needs.

The two most basic kinds of life insurance are whole life and term life. Both of these policies provide you with a death benefit, a payoff to your family members when you die. Term life only provides this benefit and can not provide you with any cash value while you are living. Whole life, which is the more expensive of the two, does provide a cash value to the living in addition to a death benefit. It really depends on what you need from an insurance policy to really determine what is right for you. If you can not afford a whole life policy, than at the very least you should make sure that you have a term policy, this way if something happens to you, you can make sure that your family has some money for funeral expenses and maybe to pay off your home. If you can get a whole life policy though, especially while you are young, then by the time you get older, you will have significant equity in your policy to help you pay for schooling or toward a down payment on a house. These are really good things if you have difficulty putting money aside on your own.

Which ever type of life insurance is best for you, it is a very important policy to maintain. If you don't you could leave family members in a financial crunch, especially if your death is an untimely one. So be sure to cover yourself, you never know what lies around the bend, but it is always better to be prepared.

promotional gifts

Thursday, July 10, 2008 9:30 AM, Jen

There are so many different ways to promote your business, but how you choose to spend your advertising dollars can make all the difference to your business. With so many different ideas out there how can you choose which avenue is right for you? Well, you must first figure out how much you can afford to spend on advertising, and what you want to get for that. You must keep your expectations realistic, but you also want to get as much for your money as you can. Many companies offer mailings, which are a good way to get your business name out there, but they have really proven less than wonderful at really driving in the business. The only mailings that seem to really bring in the business are the ones that offer things for free, but the problem is that the people who usually come in for free services do so because they really have no intention of ever paying for your services. This has been a problem that we have seen time and time again. Don't get me wrong, you can get a few legitimate new customers from this form of advertising, but dollar for dollar it is probably one of the less fruitful methods of advertising.

A better method of advertising is through the people you already know and deal with your business on a regular basis. You know, the old fashioned word of mouth advertising is still by far the best. So how can you get your people to talk up your business? Well, a wonderful way to do this is by using promotional gifts and business gifts. These items will advertise for you and get people asking your already existing customers about your business. You may be thinking...how? Well, that answer is pretty simple. You give your employees, customers, and pretty much anyone that does business with you practical, useful items with your company logo on them, and then they carry them around with them. Items such as coffee mugs, umbrellas, pens, and key rings, are items that people will carry into someone else's place of business with them. The real key is making these items stand out, so that another person will take note of the item and inquire as to where they got it from. Then the door is opened, and the customer has the opportunity to talk about you and your business. If you are going to do a common item such as pens, then make sure it is a great pen. You can get cheap pens, but it is so much better to make sure the pens you are using to promote your business are the good kind, that they write great, and that there is something that makes your pen unique. It could be an outrageous color, a different style, or a larger or smaller pen then normal. Something that will make people notice the pen. Then when you go out with pen in hand, leave it. That will place your pens in many different hands.

business gifts

You would not believe all the advertising ideas that exist out there in the world. I have been taking a class in advertising and I have looked into many of the alternative ideas that are available for companies that want to do something different to stimulate their business and take advertising to a whole new level. I really hope that when I open my advertising company that I am creative enough to come up with innovative ideas that pop. In looking into different types of advertising I recently came across a company that sells promotional gifts and business gifts. These items come with your company name and logo imprinted right on the product. As a matter of fact there are so many different ideas out there, if you are shopping for products of this nature, it can really make your head spin.

There are pens, caps, magnets, and mugs. There are shirts and bags, even flashlights. Today I even found an online company that will print M&M's with your company name or any saying that you want right on them. There are so many great ideas, but what I think is perhaps the problem with these items is that some people don't know how to go about using these items in their businesses for the most effective advertising.

First, you need to try and think of an item that will help represent your company. For instance, there is a company that sells crooked pens and pencils, and they are perfect for chiropractor's offices. The look like a twisted spine, and even though they are a cheap give away item, they are very different looking and representative of the business they are advertising for. Choosing the right item to advertise your business on is the first key. Next, you want to make sure that item is a practical item, one that people can use as thy go through their daily lives. Think about your customers and/or clients, what do they like, what do they do in their free time? There are many different items, but realize the more someone uses your item, the more advertising you will get with that item. If it doesn't rain very often where you are, then don't waste advertising dollars on umbrellas, that may be better suited on beach balls. It is all about gearing the promotional items you buy to your customers and your business. Once you come across the right item, you will know it and it will reap all the rewards you desire.

maid service

Thursday, July 10, 2008 9:02 AM, Jen

I have to tell you this story. I have been volunteering in the schools for several years now, and kids never seem to amaze me. I am always trying to look out for the ones with the bad home situations, or the ones in need of some type of help. I am not well off, but I have always enjoyed doing things to help others. By doing this, however, you must really spot the need, and sometimes the kids can be deceiving. Well, on one particular day about a week before Christmas, I read a group of letters that first grade children have written to Santa up on the classroom wall and I come across a letter that reads like this:

Dear Santa,

I would really like a Barbie and a bike, and I hope you can get them. Mom said we are broke and we won't get anything for Christmas. That would be sad.

Love,

J

So, of course, I read this letter on the wall, and my heart is breaking. What a sad letter from a first grader. Well, I go out of my way to find J to see what type of sad condition she is in. I finally figure out which child this is and I am amazed to find that she is wearing designer clothes, etc. So I start thinking that maybe something has just happened that has caused them financial stress and I go speak to the teacher about it. She proceeds to take a look at the letter which I guess hadn't really caught her eye, and she was astounded. She assured me that this child seems to have all the best things and she goes on to tell a story about the kids in her class.

The one day in class the teacher was talking about messy desks, and she complained about how messy her house was. She said that some of them must have messy rooms that were at least as bad as their desks. One girl raised her hand and said that she didn't have any problems with that because they had a maid service that came in and cleaned for them. The teacher said wow; I wish I had a maid service to help at my house. The surprising part of this story is that the girl with the maid was the same one who wrote the letter.

Sometimes, a child's perception is not a factual one. I am just glad that I found all this out before I went out and bought her Christmas presents. After all, it is not like I can afford a maid!
