Water Restoration
There are places that are really great at water restoration (trust me I should know!). We have had a flood in our old house when I was younger and then when we moved into our new house we redid the basement and put in a playroom and a bar and it was really great and then the day before we were going to have all of our family and friends over to see our basement flooded and all of the woodwork and carpet was ruined and we had to call people in to come fix it! It was such a pain in the butt but there was a company out there that really did know what they were doing and helped fix the woodwork (well save it I should say).
Now that I am in college though I live in a house with 3 other girls and in the first few weeks of school our basement flooded and we didn't know what to do because all of our storage stuff was down there so we had to have some major water restoration done on the furniture that was being stored there. And a lot of our stuff was ruined. But we learned our lesson and we got these crate things that go down on the floor so that we could put our stuff down on them and it wouldn't get wet because it was elevated.
Flooding though in this area of the country especially is a big problem and it's hard to know if your basement or house is going to flood until it actually does and then you can take action. You think everything is fine and then you go downstairs one day after the rain (or in this case leftover snow water) and the floor is covered in water and it sucks to have to deal with it. Especially when you are in college and broke and need to find someone to save the furniture saved down there. I guess it sucks for anyone that it happens to. It is just an awful experience to have to deal with and most people in their life do in one house or another that they'll live in. They should teach that in school, how to deal with a basement flood or something like that to prepare people for what will probably happen to them some time or another.
