Mission Statement

The Berkeley Society for Bioethics was created with the vision of increasing awareness of bioethical issues amongst students on the Berkeley campus.

When scientific discoveries, whether medical or agricultural, are implemented in the real world, the global community is inevitably and often irreversibly effected. As a university that is at the forefront of scientific research, it is essential that its community members examine the implications of this research.

The Berkeley Society for Bioethics provides a forum for students to discuss these important issues. Through hosting meetings with guest speakers and encouraging the exchange of ideas regarding specific bioethical topics, the Berkeley Society for Bioethics hopes to facilitate students in becoming aware and active members of the global community.
