Gamma Phi Beta expects excellence from her members, but also understands how stressful life at Cal can be. This is why we provide many services to our members so that they can have a successful career in college, and be prepared when they graduate and enter the job force. The Gamma Phi Beta Foundation Scholarship is awarded to sisters who have demonstrated drive and preservation in their studies as well as dedication to Gamma Phi. On top of this main scholarship, there are many other scholarships open to members of Gamma Phi. Our house is also equipped with a quiet study hall furnished with desks, comfortable chairs, and dsl internet to facilitate studying for those who get distracted in their own room. Also, every Wednesday night our dining hall is converted into a quiet study room with delicious study snacks such as cheesy bread and delicious chocolate chip cookies! Every week a "Smart Cookie of the Week" is chosen, where a sister, nominated for excellent grades in projects, exams and papers, is recognized and given a small gift. Any sister can place nominations into the cookie jar located at the top of the crescent stairs. Every semester Gamma Phi Beta holds a professor dinner where sisters can invite their professors from these various departments to get to know them outside of the classroom. Because Cal is such a large university, it is often times hard for students to get to know their professors on a personal level. Gamma Phi Beta not only offers the perfect opportunity to meet distinguished professors, but also helps girls to develop the confidence needed to form valuable contacts. At the end of the year, a scholarship dinner is held. Sisters receive certificates and flowers for achieving high GPAs and scholarships are awarded to deserving sisters! |
