Hypothesis
Assumption:
Many feel that advertising has become consumed by the internet. However, we don’t realize the reason why this is true: according to my business class, it is due to the cheap nature of such ads. Thus, we may overestimate the impact such ads have on the advertising budgets of most major companies. Furthermore, we do not consider them effective because we attempt to block them via programs such as Ad-Aware and Pop-Up Blocker, but is internet advertising more effective than we think? So, my hypothesis is that most internet ads play an insignificant role in the marketing mix for companies, but that they can be used effectively as a way to increase brand recognition.

Importance:
It is critical to know what effect the realm of internet advertising has on businesses and consumers. This helps businesses better understand whether they should allocate more of their budgets to “e-advertising.” It also helps everyday people understand why businesses are so ready to advertise their products on the internet, despite the dogged attempt of surfers to ignore such ads.
