• Haas Energy Challenge
Posted on March 2nd, 2008 in Latest Announcements |
One of our newest projects, the campaign involves educating staff and faculty how to easily reduce their energy consumption in the Haas School of Business.
This challenge will involve several structural and educational outreach projects within the school and prizes for reducing their energy use below previous levels. Green Campus will be testing Smart Strips: power strips that can automatically turn other electronics off when the control electronic device is turned off, such as when a computer goes into standby mode.
Green Campus will also be developing outreach materials to encourage staff and faculty to turn off lighting, computer monitors, and printers when they are not in use. In addition, we will be looking at changing outdoor lighting to low-wattage bulbs and turning off computers over the weekend.
Students from the ER 199 course will be aiding this campaign by conducting extensive lighting audits and surveying the people who use HAAS facilities. The findings from the audits and surveys will be used to develop a sustainability plan of action for Haas.
