After reading these articles, write a one page initial reaction to what you have read. What did you find compelling? Be sure to include initial arguments regarding where you stand on these issues. These will be useful in class next week.

If you're interested for more on this case, you can read "The Making of a Martyr: Holly Patterson's Death." Please be aware of the source, etc. when reading it.

The author argues that medical shows such as “ER” hide the “real issues of health care.” Based on the first few weeks of class, do you agree or disagree? Use examples from class, articles on the website, episodes, and anything else to bolster your claim. This assignment should be at least two pages long.

Due March 29:

Due April 5:

Read the SF Chronicle Magazine article on domestic violence and write a reaction paper to the piece.

Some questions to consider: What criticisms in the article did you find most compelling?  How much of an obligation do you believe police have in protecting women who are victims of domestic abuse?  Do you think domestic violence is preventable?  What would be some prevention techniques?
