Giant Lemon
Yesterday my mom went to water the plants at the old house (since the tenents moved out.) There's a lemon tree in the back yard. I think there's a grapefruit tree in the back yard also. Whatever the case, something seems weird about the lemon tree since the lemons look like this:
If a lemon is the size of somebody's head, I guess I'll have a lot of lemonade real soon.....
Posted by hachu at September 25, 2004 01:26 PMthe picture of your mom with the giant lemon is nice,but what she is holding is a citron which is part of the lemon family and usually made into candied fruit in greece or used in fruit cake. i know because my mother in law has four citron trees and we peel it. and make squares out of the peel. the center we throw out we only use the peel. boil them a few times in h2o gettig rid of the water each time and boil till a bit tender, to get rid of the bitter taste and then use 1 part sugar to 1 part h2o and let it boil 10 minutes add the citron boil till a bit thick and put in jars. you can eat it plain or put on top of vanilla ice cream for a unique taste. if you like sweet and sour tastes like myself you will love this! enjoy!
