Jeffrey Fontana

I arrived home today to be greeted by a huge gathering of police officers in uniform at the court near my house.

Some neighbors were also standing outside confused, but we came to the conclusion that it was a memorial of some sort because some of the officers were on horseback and a lot of non-uniform people were around too. Since all the people incoming were basically taking up all the streetside parking, eventually a car parked next to where we were chatting and they said it was a "candlelight" vigil (okay, they're actually using glowsticks now) for Jeffery Fontana, who was killed on duty 4 years ago.

After a speech, the group left to walk to the park which was dedicated in his name.

um...glowsticks?? it just sounds like cheating. if non-candlelight counted as a candlelight vigil, then people would have been using flashlights or lanterns all this time. =P dude you shoulda jumped in with trance music and started with the raver stuff (:

(not that i'm disrespecting this jeff guy, i'm just dissing the morons who only cared enough to half-ass a vigil. really is there any point doing a vigil if you're going to half-ass it?)

Haha, yeah, it did occur to me that using glowsticks is sorta pissing on tradition. I mean, sure, candles are unsafe but most of the people there were adults. It should have been okay. But I guess I can excuse them because they took the time to get 5 guys in uniform on horses to lead the group.
