Who we are

The Italian IISA was founded in 1999 by a group of UC Berkeley graduate students, with the goal of spreading the understanding of Italian culture, by promoting many of its aspects (tradition in the arts, history, and lifestyle).

To promote its goals, the IISA promotes events such as exhibitions, symposia, music, theater, film and food festivals revolving around Italian Culture. All IISA activities are open to people interested in discover these different aspects of Italian culture and tradition.

The IISA has a certain number of so-called Active Members, who are directly involved in organizing the IISA activities. Past members have also an important role in giving suggestion to the current active members.

Any student, staff or faculty member of UC Berkeley may become an Active Member (see our constitution), you don't have to be Italian! You just need good will, commitment and passion. If you're interested, please read the rules on the constitution and then contact us.
