Because games are simply a form of entertainment, online gaming is just enhancing the free time experience. While excessive game playing is potentially harmful if it interferes with the important aspects of life, mild game playing allows players to practice strategizing and interacting with other players. Online games also allow players to have some sort of outlet from the occasional bad day. While losing a battle may result in stress or anger, the fulfillment from finishing a quest or reaching a goal makes the player feel good about hismelf through the Use and Gratification Theory.
