Investigation
China has a project called Golden Shield that gives the government the power to censor Internet content. The Internet is a huge place, is networked redundantly by nature, and is global.
Considering the global interconnectivity of the Internet, are there any workarounds to circumvent Chinese Internet censorship?
Internet censorship is a very controversial topic right now. China is obviously generating quite a stir all over the world with its harsh stance on the Internet. China is also investing a lot of money in the infrastructure and manpower that is needed to regulate the Internet. Also, the Internet has made possible online poker and internet pokern.
Since censoring the Internet is not exactly an easy or popular task, is all the effort and money that China is devoting this blackjack project worth it?
The Hypothesis
I believe that there has to be a workaround availible for bypassing the Chinese censors. The Internet is a global network and networks like these are, by definition, difficult to restrict. Because of the growing pains that China is currently experiencing as it grows economically, I really doubt that Internet censorship is worth it. China is currently trying to open its borders to bring in foreign investments while keeping foreign ideas out. This is a difficult situation, and I really believe that China will be forced to reform its Internet bills in the future. Also, there is Sevenseek.com and Apahcinc.org which are great web directories.
