2002.09.13

This year, my birthday was not accompanied by evil terrorist plots. However, it was on a random Wednesday, which left nothing but a few random e-cards, two real paper cards, and lunch with my east-coast twin Hanching to commemorate the occasion.

Two days later, it was Friday the 13th of September, and Donald (Fuzz) from Stanfurd came all the way out here to visit some of his Berkeley friends. And at the same time, they used this as an excuse to celebrate my birthday two days after the fact. There was Donald, Eugene (his friend from high school), James (yes, the James Yeh...who also went to high school with them), and Lily (who knows Donald from summer school, and rooms with James' sister-in-law's brother. Talk about a small world!).

We had dinner at a Japanese place on Shattuck across the street from Safeway (I can't remember the name of that place offhand, but will fill it in next time I walk/drive by there), and then had cake at Lily's afterward...and a DVD watching session. This little gathering was short-lived, since the next morning was the Cal-Michigan State football game starting at 9:30am, and we (well, James and I, at least) wanted to be able to wake for that.

Hmmm...who doesn't fit in this picture of nerds? This is a group shot of us outside that Japanese place on Shattuck.

And a shot of all of us around the cake. No comments about the hacked-up way a "23" was created on the cake, please.
