So this trip to Ghiradelli Square and San Francisco was amusing for a number of reasons. First of all, the whole purpose of the trip was to eat. That's right. To eat. Sounds a lot like Mr. Riese's goal with the magazine drive back at Bellarmine seven years ago. Anyhow, Yolanda mentioned the Earthquake Sundae at Ghiradelli Square as something that five people had trouble finishing. Hanching and I took that (somewhat jokingly, of course) as a challenge, and so the three of us went off to see if we could finish one.

Here we are, ready to dig in to the ice cream beast, salivating at the thought of all that ice cream, chocolate, toppings, etc...mmmm...

And here's a close-up shot of what the thing looked like before we devoured it...

And less than ten minutes later, here's all that remained. By the end, it was just a big mess of "goop" that all tasted something like chocolate and caramel, and was cold.

And even after that, we were still hungry, and ended up getting lunch at this place on Fisherman's Wharf (actually we ate there only because they validated parking, thus giving me three free hours of parking. hehehe). Along the way, we wandered through Pier 39, where the most interesting sight I saw was right outside the Bubba Gump's restaurant:

Here's an empty "Forrest Gump" photo-op bench. It was amusing...my shoes were too big to fit behind the fake shoes they had there...

And since Ghiradelli Square is nowhere near a BART station, I was crazy enough to drive (yes, me and my poor little Civic) across the bay. Since it was a Thursday, there was no problem finding parking...however, by the time we left, it was rush hour, there was an accident on the on-ramp to the Bay Bridge, and so I was stuck for 30 minutes on one hill....yes, a hill. Halfway up, I started smelling something that reminded me of the stench that came out of my laundry room when the washing machine went on crack during the summer...I can only assume that it was my clutch or something, so I stopped using it to keep me from rolling back on that hill...it was an adventure.

Here's a tree in Ghiradelli Square
