So this was the one last week before graduation. In its wake, I
had two finals, and was to be done by Wednesday afternoon. Not a bad
deal -- that would leave me with two whole days to frolick before my
own graduation ceremony! Woo hoo!
IB Commencement
So it all started on Sunday the 13th, the day all them
Integrative Biology majors celebrated their graduation. Tracy and
Mona walked, along with some rescommies whose names I recognised, and
a bunch of other people I didn't know. After waking up at the
butt-crack of dawn, I eventually found myself at Zellerbach Hall where
the ceremony was to take place.
 |
I was trying to get a picture of Mona as she processed into her seat,
but since they were practically running into the building, this
shot got blurred. Hell, I can't even really tell who this is. Oh
well.
 |
And this was mainly a shot to show the kinds of things people would
spell out on their hats. Look closely - it looks as if some people in
the front row are spelling out "MOO"... yay!
 |
After all was said and done, Tracy's sister Melissa decided to play
with my d-cam and take a picture of Ted and Tracy in a beanbag chair.
Here, Tracy's doing her best impersonation of one of the graduates who
pulled a "Chun-Li" (see Street Fighter II) as she walked
across the stage.
Tilden
Wednesday (the 16th) was a hot sunny day. After getting murdered
on my EE130 final in the morning, I celebrated being done with finals
for good by playing around with bubbles and cats at Tilden. Ok, so
not the cats. Nam referred to this as "frolicking" or
something like that. For me, it was just a chance to do something
other than study. See the blurb here.
Memorial Glade
Home to many a frisbee game, Memorial Glade is perhaps the
biggest stretch of grass on campus that hasn't been turned into a
building yet. Thursday morning found me sitting on the Glade with
Christine, trying to predict the future. And wondering where all the
people were. And wasting an hour just sitting under a warming sun
with nothing else to do.
 |
Look at the glare on this shot! This is a shot capturing both the
campanile and some of the greenness of Memorial Glade. Hell, this is
a tourist shot. Why did I take it?
 |
And here is an extreme close-up shot of Christine on Memorial Glade.
Lily & Iris!
So am I talking about two women, two flowers, or one of each?
Hahaha! Friday afternoon, Lily decided she'd come visit this
apartment I've boasted about many times, since she had been so
horrible at stalking me during the semester. And as her name would
indicate, she's the type who would buy flowers for someone
who's graduating.... Anyway, I now have an iris or two or three
sitting in a jar next to my potato plant on the fridge. Yay!
 |
Here's a shot of Lily and me with some Berkeley stuff in the
background. I tried to get the Campanile and the rest of the campus
into the picture, but I'm just not that spiffy yet.
Economics Commencement
This is Andy's "other" major, the one in which he knows
nobody. Therefore, he asked everyone he knows from his circles of
EE, swimming, and anything else to come to his graduation and cheer
for him Friday afternoon. And so we did. I met up with Chris
beforehand and we fought
another day of insane heat to figure out where Andy was so we could
cheer for him as his name was called.
 |
Here's what a commencement ceremony looks like
at the Greek, from way up high.
 |
So afterward, there was the mad rush to get pictures next to the
"Greek Theatre" sign, for some reason or another.
 |
Here's Andy, Jenny, and me posing near the Greek sign, but not right
next to it. You can see some of the mad masses behind us. Also,
notice that if Andy's gown were to be zipped up completely, you
wouldn't be able to tell if he was even wearing any clothing
underneath...
