Lily comes to Berkeley! Yay! Actually, it was all for Becca's summer symphony concert at 8pm in Hertz Hall, but still, she got here in the early morning and solicited all of us to meet her for lunch at Mel's (where else?). And even from the start, the flakes started to flake out: Mary and Masato had just finished summer school; Mary went back home to soCal, Masato moved into the I-House and then went back home to soCal also. That left Yana, Andre, Lillian, Becca, and me as the only Berkeleyites that Lily remembered. Lillian was gone somewhere all day, and Yana and Andre were supposed to meet us there at 12:30. Guess who never showed up?
So it was an adventure for four of us (Lily, her mom, Becca and me) wandering around campus showing Lily the sights (we've already brainwashed her into wanting to come to Berkeley), the dungeon that is the second floor of Soda Hall, and even going up to the Campanile. Along the way, we saw this coolio woman playing some sort of weird instrument which sounded like an accordian from a distance, but looked like a pan flute of some sort, commented on the ugliness of such buildings as the crumbling Evans and discussed why the color green is good. And of course, we had to be bad influences on the little kids by climbing up to the bars once up to the top of the Campanile to get a better bay view.
