Are you in need of some units? The Environmental Team hosts a DeCal in the Fall and Spring semesters. These courses can be taken for one or two units. Session times are weekly and involve a diverse exposure to water treatment-related material with: lectures and labs, system design and construction, and field trips. It is not a requirement to take the Fall course to take part in the Spring competition, but the background education enriches the experience. Also, it is not a requirement to register for the Spring course to take part in the competition; but since you’re already spending so much time with us why not make it official and get some easy units. (On top of this, you can make some new geeky friends :D.) There is no prerequisite of previous technical knowledge or experience to participate: all you need is a curious mind and some willingness to help out!
If you’ve got any questions, leave a comment at the bottom of the page and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is once again hosting its third annual Mini-University event on the UC Berkeley campus on Friday, April 10, 2009. Mini-U is a day dedicated to students from nearby high schools to learn about engineering at Berkeley and the field in general through various lectures and interactive activities. We hope that through this program, students who might not otherwise have considered engineering as a career option will be inspired to pursue this great field.
We would really appreciate your help in making this event successful! We thought that since Cal Enviro leads a DeCal, you might have activities suitable for curious high school students.
The day is set up with a main project and various 45 minute lectures and activities.
The open 45 minute time slots (of approximately 20 students each) are:
10:15-11:00am
11:15-12:00pm
1:15-2:00pm
2:15-3:00pm
If members of your organization are available during one or more of the time slots, we (and the attendees) would be grateful if you could create an interactive, 45 minute activity relating to the world of engineering that would engage the participating students.
Free lunch is provided if you and your organization choose to contribute (and we hope you do!) In addition, your organization will have the option of self-promotion through folders we will distribute to each individual.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you would be interested in participating. We will contact you about more specific details at a later date.
Thank you so much and we hope to hear from you soon!
