Sather Tower at Sunset with Golden Gate in Background"If you are bored with Berkeley, you are bored with life." --Clark Kerr

Such a nobler sentiment was never said.  The city of Berkeley has a charm that is oft lost in the impersonal world of the big city.  But that is probably because it is home to the University of California at Berkeley, the first and greatest of the nine UC campuses.

This is the homepage of one Katrina A. Templeton, aka me.  I'm known better in real life as "Kat", on the net as "katster", and in Russian class as "Katya." :)  Who am I?  I thought I just...oh, okay.  Well, first and foremost, if you couldn't guess by the glowing tribute in the first paragraph, and the blue and goldness of this page, I'm a student at UC Berkeley.  (Fiat Lux!)  I love this place.  The vibrance, the diversity...man, it's really a trip.  And a perfectally legal one, I might add.  The academics are hard (yes, Mom, I'm studying), but it's a really neat place. If you want to check my schedule this semester, go ahead.

As you can probably guess, not only do I go to a great school academically, it's also a school with a great athletic tradition. (stop the snickering in the back.) Yes, you've probably heard of the fearless California Golden Bears. That's my team. I'm a big Bear fan.  Because I'm such a big Bear fan, I joined the University of California  Rally Committee. If you've ever gone to a Cal football or basketball game and found strange people running around in blue and gold striped rugbys...well, that's us. This is my second year in Rally Committee, and I'm really glad I joined. I have my own personal Rally page, with my thoughts on what Rally Comm has meant to me.

"Berkeley is famous for two things: LSD and UNIX.  We do not believe this to be a coincidence."  --aphrocryphal
Another thing I'm doing this semester is staff duties at the Open Computing Facility (OCF). You might find it rather strange that I'm staff at OCF and not a CS or EECS major. Well, yes, I'm a (soon to be declared) history major, but I've always had a fascination with these machines that can (almost, but not quite) think. And I'm always on the computer anyway, might as well do something productive with it. :)

I also spend a lot of time (a lot more time that I should) hanging out on Chundernet.  The obvious nick.  You can also find me on a range of news groups ( usually in lurk mode) ranging from alt.barney.dinosaur.die.die.die to  alt.sports.college.pac-10 to alt.music.paul-simon.

Anyway, that about sums it up for me.  Come back soon, and refer a friend or two here, okay?
