choices
future plans and such…. aah school’s almost done and all these choices to make…..
math minor or major. since there’s just two classes for minor and four left for major, i really think it’s worth finishing. i can get some crazy programming/ui experience with the major but on other hand, i really don’t want to do math or programming and can get the ui experience later (since the class interferes to much with schedule)… so… looks like minor it is. the dreaded 104 next semester (it really didn’t seem that bad last year).. and 185 for summer.
ed minor …. who to teach. i love little kids. they’re so cute and genuine. like they can come up and say, “your necklace is funny.” and they don’t mean any harm and are just telling the truth. i love how you can give a little praise and they’ll go buck wild and imagine themselves as a future writer or computer guy or mathematician. they’re so cool. at the same time, teaching this high school class has been so nice. i guess i’ve been really lucky with both classes, but these guys are so amazing. it’s cool because it seems like i was just in their shoes and so much important stuff is right in front of them, and you can really see their writing skills develop from week to week. ah! it’s really tough to choose what group to help. i signed up for ed 195b for phase one over 114a… hopefully this works out. also hoping to start working as an art teacher assistant at a kids’ museum next semester..
ed 190 during summer
art class. if i don’t do the math major, i can take an art class or two. i really want to take drawing and composition, however this seems an unlikely fit into the schedule… although maybe the afternoon class might work. as for morning class the choice is between either sculpture or painting. i’ve had very limited experience with both. i love working with clay but could really use more experience in painting, actually in both… we’ll see. still in air.
future… aah! this is kind of tough. strangely enough, there’s something beyond crazy rewarding about teaching english. i dunno, never thought i’d say that. i know i don’t yet have the skills to teach college writing and what not but man, teaching how to write quick essays just rocks! ah! i think i might apply to one of those two-year teaching programs where you get a credential.
i think timeline might go like this:
summer:
finish school
fall:
work a few months (kaplan? tutoring?), apply to programs
spring
travel/study/work abroad…
hopefully something art related, and possibly teaching english..
hopefully spanish-speaking country or israel
summer
start the two-year teacher thing (hopefully in a new interesting place)
and after school take art classes
eventually become artist/art teacher
yeah…. i rarely keep to plans but this sounds kind of neat
there are quite a lot of tough considerations to consider…
