urban momentum four year

cool battles. tony really impressed me. when most bboys battle, it’s so mean, straight negative, messes the other person up, creates this really bad vibe. but this guy, he was at such a level that he could vibe while still battling. even his opponents couldn’t help but smile and clap. although i was rooting for my friends, if anyone else won, i’m glad it was him, not just for the skills but for the positive energy.

after the first two battles soul sector did their routine. it’s just so cool and well choreographed. they have so many styles, such good choreo, and such crazy talent. my favorite part was where bionic was underwater and then burst out as the beat went in. bionic in general, i knew he was tight, but on stage, he put everything into it and took it to the next level. my second favorite part was the routine from jardy’s class. the song and everything it just vibes and makes you want to dance, but then watching them do it so well, it’s like whoa, and although you super want to dance, you super want to watch too. the other thing i loved was the transitions and how well together everything was, like the bboys weren’t jsut randomly in and out, they were part of it, as others danced they’d change freezes and then their solos were all crazy cool too. the whole routine is crazy cool.

there was also a performance by capoeira usa. these guys were amazing. maybe when i move to sf, maybe i’ll sign up for a class or two. it’s just so cool. i mean for fighting it’s all about krav maga or brazillian jiu jitsu or something else that’s just straight violent, but the cool thing with capoeira is it’s balance, flight, flexibility, and beauty. it’s a dance, and art form. and the music. oh. i love it. the whole evening, i thought the best music came from the capoeira people. haha and in addition to cool music, improved body control, amazing movements, capoeira is a martial art too, you get that as a bonus. haha how cool.

after the results were announced, this redhead dude started playing live with some kind of sound machine. it was crazy tight, but i really wasn’t feeling it. i mean i was feeling the music, but i didn’t want a concert, funk, hiphop, or techno. i just wanted to dance. for a bit, mighty seemed appealing, but twenty bucks seemed way too much after what happened last time. just went back home. they started a five dollar guestlist now. i’m down for that, but anything over, i don’t know.

on the bright side, super excited about the class tomorrow. i don’t expect to get even a fraction of it, but if i can pick up just a few things to work on i’d be happy and improve. also, devotion! haha maybe catching up on sleep tonight was a good idea.

so glad i went to the event though. mad props to the cool people who got this event together and kept it going. happy 4th.
