Kenny's Pictures, Batch No. 5
This batch will mainly include everything of interest that happened during Fall
semester 1999. I have some nice pictures from the summer here as well. I purchased
a scanner towards the end of the semester, so hopefully I'll be able to add more
pictures when I have time, or if I have time.
Orange County, Summer, 1999
Our family stayed at the Westin South Coast in August, and I got a great view of the
surrounding area from our room on the fifteenth floor.

Looking South at Costa Mesa
In the background, you can see the Orange County Airport (John Wayne Airport) and
the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor (CA-73) winding up the hill. (56.8 KB)
- Looking East at Tustin
The foreground shows the agricultural fields that are becoming rare in Orange County.
The big round thing is where the Tustin MCAS is, that "thing" being the historic blimp
hangers. In the background are the Santa Ana Mountains. (70.1 KB)

The House Group Picture, December 1999
A picture of all the residents of the House. Unfortunately this picture was underexposed,
so the details and shadows aren't very good (shot at 400 on Royal 100 [oops]). The 120
portraits were much better, and enlarged to 11x14 are beautiful! (43.8 KB)
-
My Cube!
I didn't know where to put this, but if you wanted to know what my workplace looks
like, here's my cube at MDL in San Leandro. (35.3 KB)
Thanksgiving Break, November 1999
For the holiday, we went to Las Vegas. It was pretty nice, even though it was a little
non-traditional. It was a relaxing break, but I think I should have done a bit more studying.

View of Paris from Bellagio
During a water dance. One of the songs they played was Con te partiro, how
appropriate. Actually this was set at a small aperture to decrease shutter speed, which caused vignetting. That and using 2 filters at 28mm. Thank goodness for Photoshop. (62.1 KB)

Cool Orange County History related stuff
Some things that I've been meaning to scan for a while to supplement my Orange County History
Page.
-
Map of North County, ca. 1960
Actually a part of a larger Los Angeles Map, it shows much of Orange County without
its freeways and some archane street names. Here, only US-101 (today's I-5) and part of
US-91 (CA-91) are built. (194 KB)
-
The "Santa Ana Canyon Freeway"
US-91 looking west. This "freeway" is actually present-day Santa Ana Canyon Rd. (93.4 KB)
-
Northwest on US-101 (I-5)
I-5 in all its 4-lane glory in Anaheim. Currently the freeway and its interchanges
between CA-22 and CA-91 are being upgraded and widened to be accomodate the higher
traffic volume. (86.8 KB)
Excursion Pictures, December 1999
Here are some pictures that I took during excursions in and around the Bay Area during
December 1999. I experimented with medium format during some of the excursions, and the
quality was superb! They put my 35mm photos to shame. All these are 35mm unless I say
otherwise.
-
Pt. Bonita Lighthouse
An enchanting lighthouse in Marin County. Unfortunately the lighting wasn't ideal
(backlighting), but it made for some beautiful silhouettes. (30.7 KB)
-
Golden Gate Bridge
With the City in the background, from the Headlands. (35.7 KB)
-
San Francisco at night
From Treasure Island, with the Bay Bridge on the left. (42.5 KB)
