I decided to tag along with Crissy who had a study abroad
orientation in Sacramento. I wanted to visit UC Davis and experience
what it's like at a different college campus. Jennifer played tour
guide and we explored the sprawling campus. One of the administrative
buildings was really modern and bizarre looking, lots of lines and
sharp angles. It's known as the "death star" by students
because it's so easy to get lost in that building. It's like a hundred
times worse than Dwinelle in Berkeley. I like how there's a glass
walkway on the third floor though. We strolled around the lake and
harassed the ducks by chasing them around. Overall, Davis is a pretty
campus but too rural for my tastes.
Afterwards, we went to the farmer's market where they had yummy
strawberries and freshly-made tamales. I didn't get a chance to
go to Murder Burger. We did have burritos from a local favorite,
Dos Coyotes. After getting
back from Davis, I had dinner with a friend at Tomadachis.

OK, I finally signed up for a flickr
account because I like how the interface is already set up and
how easy it is to share your photos with people. I've added my DC
photos but I still need to sift through my NYC photos from spring
break.

My parents are off traveling in Asia for a month so I get
to take care of the house, no easy challenge. Usually, my parents
manage everything because my sister and I are so busy with classes
and work.
Now that I have more free time, I try to pitch in more. No, I will
not become a spoiled, pampered brat. To tell you the truth it's
kinda novel and fun for me doing all these chores. I like food shopping
and doing the laundry. Although, I hate weeding, taking out the
garbage, and the never ending piles of dishes. Crissy and I have
been cooking more too, experimenting with new recipes. Did you know
Italian salad dressing makes an excellent marinade?

Oooh, I just discovered a new brand that has very cute designs:
Spicy Brown. I really like
their Kokeshi line. You can find their products in Japantown at:

I was shopping at Urban Outfitters and noticed some cool
looking postcards next to the Yoshitomo Nara postcards. They were
drawn by Adrian
Tomine and called Optic Nerve. Check them out:

I had a second birthday brunch at Fat Apples with Jean, Katie,
and Stephanie. The quiche was really yummy. If you visit, be sure
to drop by the bakery next door and try the cheese puffs.

Off to DC on a red eye flight. Pretty cherry blossoms!

I had my birthday brunch at Homemade Cafe and was thrilled
to see Brian, Emily, Jennifer K, Louise, and Sandy. I haven't seen
everyone in ages but no more excuses. I ordered the cheese blintzes
but they weren't very filling. Louise and I also started planning
for our DC trip, figuring out what we wanted to see there.

Afterwards we went on a factory tour at Scharffen
Berger. Drool, chocolate. =d Even the bathrooms smelled like
chocolate and the hot chocolate in waiting room was divine. They
have a cafe there, too. Anyway, the factory tour was kinda silly
but at least we got to try free chocolate. I love their milk chocolate
bars which are made up of 41% cacao.
