I went to Katie's birthday lunch at Hahn's
Hibachi in Jack London Square. Mmm, lunch wasn't as awkward
as I expected but I don't have high hopes of maintaining a friendship
with him. Bleh, cest la vie, can't control clashing personalities.

Gabriel and Dresden
were featured on Live 105's Subsonic. I love their mix of Evanescence's
Hello, so haunting sounding. Their new album Bloom is coming out
on September 7th.

So my parents and two of my sisters went to Las Vegas for
three days without me. During the past three days, I realized how
spoiled I am when my parents are at home. Meals are always ready
when I'm hungry, I never have to take out the trash, or kill ants
when they invade the kitchen. Haha, random I know. Anyway, my parents
thought I would be scared being alone in such a big house. What
people don't realize is that I'm too exhausted to be distracted
by scary noises by the time I return from a long day of work and
class. I'm also not home much during the weekdays.

I went window shopping all around Union Square to preview
fall fashions. I saw lots of tweeds, plaids, fur trims, cute designs
in menswears fabrics, and vintage inspired styles or what my sister
likes to call granny wear. I was wearing black leather dress shoes
and after three hours I was hobbling. =/ All that window shopping
has confirmed my love for pinstripes, a-line skirts, lace, and cute
sweaters.
At night, I met up with with Cami, Jean, Lise, and Shawna and had
dinner at Cheesecake Factory. Cami was visiting for a week; she'll
be studying at Carnegie Mellon for a year. Haha, it was fun catching
up and gossiping with the girls, swapping crazy single girl stories
and funny moments. I still need to gather all my elgible single
guy friends and introduce them to the girls. ; )
Anyway, for din din, I ordered my usual, Thai Chicken Pasta, yum.
We all shared a banana creme cheesecake. Thanks Lise for driving
me home; you're a sweetie. Pleasantly surprised that we had so much
in common. =)

I went urban hiking around San Francisco after work. I walked
around Nob Hill, Grace Cathedral, the Fairmont, Lafayette Park,
and Pacific Heights. Walking in the evening is really nice; you
don't get sunburned or exhausted as easily.
Helen and Stacy were in town and we all got together for dinner
in Japantown. It was the usualy suspects, Chris, Jason, Mark, and
some people I haven't seen in awhile, Angela and Yvonne. Funny how
all the guys ate dessert crepes from Sophie's before we got dinner.
The crepes were huge, filled with ice cream, whipped creme, and
fruit. Dinner was at Izumi-Ya and I got to try okonomiyaki, a mixture
of a pancake and omlet, for the first time, sooo yum.

Even though Stacy is busy with med school and Helen law school,
I'm happy that I get to see them at least once a year. I need to
visit Boston sometime next year after I graduate. =)

There is a Yoshitomo Nara art exhibit called Nothing
Ever Happens at the San Jose
Museum of Art. It will be there until October 31, 2004. I like
the edginess of his drawings and the mean tempers of his characters.
Here's an article
about Nara and how challenges traditional portrayals of cuteness.
