My two new pair of shoes:

And this pair I have in tan with orange stripes.

Equal parts of apple vinegar and olive oil makes a great dressing for spinach salad. It's really cool how when you keep mixing the two, the consistency turns into almost applesauce. I add slivered almonds and cranberries to the mix.

bg and I went to watch Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras, Spain's most celebrated flamenco company, at Zellerbach. bg said he didn't get it, said the dancers were very talented, but never heard of flamenco before. No comment from Lena. Afterwards, we had dinner at Gypy's and bg was so surprised how inexpensive everything was. No food ghetto at Davis I guess. I ordered gnocchi because I've been craving that for awhile.

Like so many chicas I love shopping but I want to hear the story behind the brands and their business strategies. Infomat is a great website about the fashion industry.

That's right, I like inexpensive flavored coffee. It does the trick and satisfies my mild coffee cravings. Flavors I like:

  • Cafe Francais
  • Chai Latte
  • French Vanilla Cafe
  • French Vanilla Nut
  • Hazelnut Belgian Cafe

I recently discovered that Target has the best prices for them. Not only that, Target sells some unique drinks. My coworkers love ITO EN teas. The teas are all natural and unsweetened.

Another coworker loves Honest Tea which is organic tea without artificial flavors or sweeteners.

Yup, that's Opus on the label from Berkeley Breathed. I like how the label calls Opus as something halfway between a chicken and doorman.

Izze, a nice alternative to soda. Izze is just natural fruit juice with a splash of sparkling water and comes in tons of yummy flavors.

And lastly I bought French pink sparkling lemonade called Lorina.

Yay for Target for selling healthier but delicious drinks!!!

Happy Chinese New Year especially to all those piggies out there. Supposedly, it's a great year to have kids.

I finally figured out what kind of cafe drinks I like the best. I like lattes, flavored lattes when I want to indulge, sometimes mochas, and chais if want something non-coffee. Btw, a double shot of expresso is an extremely bad idea and will keep me awake all night even if I drank it at 4:00 pm. Ahhh, too wired, can't zzz. Need to calculate secret formula for sleep. Agnes and I made chocolate chip pancakes from scratch. Well, kinda sorta. I was running late and my sweetie sister Crissy made the batter for me while I dealt with annoying weekend BART delays. These pancakes are super fluffy. Mmm, Guittard chocolate chips are super yum and a local chocolate company to boot. bg called me a chocolate monster but I don't care. I had dinner with my cousins at Banyan Garden in Union City for an early Chinese New Year celebration.

bg and I had a late Valentine's Day dinner at bushi-tei in Japantown. It was one of the few restaurants to receive a Michelin star. We ordered:

  • Big eye Tuna tartare
  • Lobster and Crab appetizer
  • Seared Rare Big Eye Tuna, with macademia
nut relish, pineapple coconut curry, lime-herb sea salt
  • Tender loin of Kobe beef, pommes frites, perigueux

I don't purchase meat very often. Make sure the beef you select is a bright cherry-red color. Here are some more guidelines.

Pillow Fight Club at 6 pm at Justin Herman Plaza.

bg and I made dinner instead of eating out to avoid the over-priced menus. We ended up going Yield Wine Bar, the only green wine bar in San Francisco. Another plus is that we can walk home drunk safely. Here's an SFGate article about various wine bars in the city including Yield.

I need some new running shoes. Any suggestions? New Balances are known for their running shoes but they have so many versions. I want something with substantial cushioning. I will be training for a half marathon. What do you recommend?

Magazines are nice because they're portable but they're too often filled with advertisements. That's why I like blogs, they're pretty much 90% content. I'm not going to subscribe to anymore magazines.

Around and around in circles we go.

Here is a interesting comparison of San Francisco neighborhoods with New York City ones.
