I went to the Oakland A's game against the Chicago White Sox with Yusing. Our seats were pretty good. Dude, I dunno how Yusing manages to keep such a crazy, social schedule, with all that bar hopping, meeting up friends, going to clubs, watching bands, etc. I would totally get burnt out after awhile. After the game, I met up with a friend and had dinner at Tomadachi.

Today was Tim's last day; after he leaves, not counting my boss, I'll be the second most senior person there. Weird, how three year passes so quickly.

Omg, my hard drive just died on me! It says cannot recognize operating system. Gahhh!!!!! My data, my files, my photos. #^*%&$@! On top of that, I had some weird allergic reaction last night and my left eye got so swollen and I had hives all over my stomach. Can this week get any worse?

My family and I went to Jennifer's graduation at Davis (three down, one to go); she majored in Computer Science. Instead of battling the crowds for lunch (you know how all the college town restaurants get during graduation week), we had a picnic lunch on campus near Lake Spafford and the Arboretum where all the ducks wander. Mmm, the burritos from Dos Coyotes were really good. We took the mandatory graduation photos all around campus. Luckily Jennifer was one of the first graduates to walk across the stage so we left the graduation early. Sitting on hard benches in a gym for three hours is no fun. Anyway, Crissy made Jennifera hk-style bouquet made up of two dozen orange roses decorated with tulle and ribbon. I think Crissy did a better job than I did with hers last year.

I went to an Eden Gardens reunion at Jupiters. It was great seeing Andrea, Jared, Michael, and Nicole. I haven't seen Jared and Nicole since 5th grade and I barely recognized Jared. Andrea is working for the SF Symphony, Jared is about to head off to London for business school, Michael is at UCLA for graduate school, and Nicole is a music teacher.

I had dinner at Texas Roadhouse at Union Landing with Agnes, Cheryl, Jean, Nancy, and Shawna. It nice catching up some of the BAP girls. If you've never been to Texas Roadhouse you have to go! They have the best bread ever drizzled with cinnamon butter. Hmmm, drool. They also have really good sides such as chicken critters and baked sweet potatoes.

I haven't hung out with Stephanie in ages so she visited me for a few days and I took her to the Hayward Japanese Tea Garden and Lake Chabot. I like showing people nice places in and around Hayward because Hayward gets such a bad rep. It always bugs me that people are afraid their cars will get jacked in my neighborhood. My family has lived in the same neighborhood the past 25 years, so I'm pretty sure it's safe. There are no drivebys or shoot outs in this part of Hayward. Sigh, ok, enough ranting. Stephanie and I hiked around the lake and the it was a perfect sunny day, not too hot. I want to try paddle boating; someone try it with me at Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park! It was great catching up with Stephanie and I hope she doesn't have to move back home to socal. Crossing my fingers that she gets the teacher positions she wants. Anyway, it seems like quite a few people are moving away from the Bay Area to be closer to family, for new jobs, or for graduate school.

I went to the Live 105 BFD concert at the Shoreline with Crissy and Jennifer. The Bravery and Hot Hot Heat were my two favorite bands. You know you like a band when you like most of there songs and not just the one or two songs that get over played on the radio. The singer from the Bravery was so very cute and the girls went wild when he joined the crowd near the stage. The Bravery will be back in San Francisco on September 15 at the Fillmore. A lot of people say they sound like the Killers. Perhaps, but I still like how they have a British vibe to them. Hot Hot Heat's main singer has a big afro of curls and I like their latest album Elevators. Being able to stand so close to the bands on the festival stage was cool. I did feel kinda old and out of place at the concert surrounded by all these high school kids and wannabe punks.

I watched Miyazaki's latest anime, Howl's Moving Castle with Bosun and Kent at the Berkeley Pacific Film Archive. It was in Japanese with English subtitles; which is the version I prefer when I watch Miyazaki films. Hearing an English translations just seems a bit off. The movie is based on a British children's book. In typical Miyazaki fashion, there were flying motiffs, magic, and strange mythical creatures. The movie had a strange ending so I like Spirited Away more than this film. The little wizard apprentice Markl is very cute, especially when he puts on his beard and turns into a old, small dwarf. I also really liked the soundtrack and the European scenery in the film.

A group of us got together in the South Bay to celebrate Sandy's 25th birthday. Funny, I don't venture to the South Bay much but there are some great places to eat there, supposedly some great Taiwanese places, too. Anyway, we had lunch in Mountain View at Cascal. They had yummy tapas and my favorite dish was the Peruvian Ceviche: fresh halibut marinated in fresh lime juice, red onion, fresh ginger, chili arbol, and sea salt. The dish reminded me of sashimi and ahi poke. We also ordered a seafood paella that was flavored with squid ink. At first I thought the paella was burnt when it arrived at the table; I've never had a dish that was completely black. The funny thing about eating paella with squid ink is that everyone ends up with black lips and teeth. =p Tapas or small plates seem really trendy right now. I like them because you get to try all these different flavors without getting overly full. I suppose dim sum is the Asian version of tapas.

Afterwards we went mini golfing in super windy conditions. I haven't gone mini-golfing since my senior year for a BAP social. It was great being able to catch up with Jennifer K. After awhile, we stopped keeping score and just focused on hitting the ball. I dunno if I would ever take up golf; I'm too uncoordinated, haha. Later, we drove back to Sandy's place for ice cream and cake. It's so cute that Sandy and Steve have their own signature Coldstone ice cream flavor. It's made up of banana ice cream, coffee ice cream, sliced strawberries, and crushed Heath bars. Sounds like a very strange combination but it was pretty good. Later, I tagged along with Steve, Iku, and Jennifer I. and watched their dogs on a play date. Gus is such an adorable dog; he's a golden retriever puppy.

Only one more year left until the new Bloomingdales retail space is ready to be opened. Downtown SF is going to be a shopping fanatic's dream.
