I finally watched Shrek; it was playing on TV. I know I know, it's been more than three years since it was first released but I just never got around seeing it. As always I love fairy tale references. Shrek 2 was better, more jokes that adults would find amusing.

I want to go ice skating in San Francisco!

The older I become, the less able I am to use shopping as a mood enhancer. =p After awhile, seeing a pile of clothes in my room that I only wear a few times makes me feel extremely guilty and wasteful.

So being a hypocrite, I managed to drag Crissy to Macys at 6 am to see if we could find any good deals. I bought a white summer dress with a red floral toile pattern. Then we went to Joanns because I needed fabric to finish my memory board. The line was crazy long with grandmas and mothers that we decided to forget about the fabric. Instead, I bought a cute rubber stamp that says "and they lived happily ever after". Haha, I know it's silly but I love fairy tales.

Happy Thanksgiving. No turkey for our family dinner. =( We did have mashed sweet potatoes and apple raisin bread, courtesy of moi! Mmm, pumpkin pie = yum.

My naps have been giving me migraines. And I keep having these weird nightmares. I feel like I'm half awake because I can hear surrounding noises and I'm semi aware of what's around me. However, I can't move or talk and it's a great challenge to wake myself up from these semiconscious state. Highly unsettling. Someone please explain what's wrong with me.

I had lunch with the girls (Katie, Louise, and Sandy) in Oakland Chinatown at DNA Cafe. It's a yummy place if you're craving HK style food. Heehee, I liked Katie's pink furry hoodie.

I met up with Leslie at a yummy breakfast place called Ebb Tide in the Mission. They had really yummy French toast, very fluffy. It was great catching up with one of my old roomies. Haha, I love talking about arts and crafts and listening to project ideas people are working on.

I've never walked around the Mission and it was a bit odd at first because I felt so out of place. There aren't many tourists in the Mission, that's for sure, unlike places like Chinatown, Japantown or North Beach. But it was cool still to window shop and look around. The streets were crowded with people doing their Sunday shopping and it reminded me of shopping in Chinatown on the weekends.

The Olivia books are cute and one reason why I always end up in the children's section in bookstores. I admire her attitude and precociousness. Ian Falconer has written several books so far.

  • Olivia
  • Olivia . . . and the Missing Toy
  • Olivia Counts
  • Olivia Saves the Circus
  • Olivia's Opposites
  • Teatro Olivia

I find the adult references amusing. These are the ones I've noticed so far. There have been photos of Martha Graham and Eleanor Roosevelt. When Olivia visited the museum she saw paintings by Degas and Pollock. And Olivia was reading a book about Maria Callas, a famous Italian opera singer.

My coworker's girlfriend is an avid baker. She's a total sweetie; every time she makes something she'll ask my coworker to bring it to work for me. So far she's made me rhubarb pie, apple pie, creme brulee, and carrot cake. The apple pie was so good; the filling was a mixture of golden raisins, pears, and apples. The creme brulee was exquisite. It was my first time eating creme brulee and I loved the crunchy sugar topping. Creme brulee reminds me of a cross between custard and flan. It was definitely very rich and I could only manage to eat a few bites at a time.

Heehee, but it's just so nice to be spoiled for a change. Sigh. =)

I love drinking hot apple cider, so soothing but I keep burning my tongue. Grrr. I found these cool Thai ice tea packets at an Asian market. Yay! I don't have to go to restaurants to enjoy them now.
