Haha, I like how Stephanie took the time to find out where I work
and visits me. Of course when she first walks in she sees Tim with
a very creepy clown mask for Halloween. Stephanie was visiting some
friends in Berkeley and Davis so I got a chance to catch up with
her. Yikes, one of her friends who used to visit Channing House
frequently is engaged. =) Best wishes to her. Anyway, it's always
a pleasure chatting with my old roomies.

Omg, how did it get sooo cold so suddenly??? *Lena diving into her
bed, hiding under 4 comforters*

The best make out spot in Hayward is in parking lot B at Cal State
Hayward, though I can't say it's due from past experience. =p Anyway,
the parking lot ends at the edge of a cliff and you can see miles
and miles of lights beneath you from Fremont to San Leandro. Gorgeous,
trust me on this one.

Favorite Songs of the Moment:
AFI - Silver and Cold
Blink 182 - Action
Kill Hannah - Kennedy (they sound just like Garbage but it's a male
singer!)
Saliva - Bleed for Me

I just finished reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire. It's about the
"Wicked Witch of the West" who's supposedly mean and cruel.
The book describes how she became to be known as this wicked witch
but the reader discovers this startling human quality in her bitter,
tragic story.

Check out the Panda
Cam if you would like to watch how the new baby panda at the
San Diego is doing. The baby is so small compared to his mama. Sometimes,
it looks like the mama is gonna eat the baby or smoosh him. It's
endearing to watch how the baby and mama will sleep apart from each
other but end up rolling next to each other. Haha, I love how my
coworkers liked the Panda Cam and didn't think I was some silly
girl addicted to cute things (bleh, something my ex had issues with,
supposedly I was too girly).

Someone needs to teach my how to parallel park please. I'll bake
treats in return. I still hate driving especially when there's a
lot of traffic and at night when some stupid ass people think it's
ok to run a red light at 50 mph.

Favorite Songs of the Moment:
3 Doors Down - Here Without You
Billy Talent - Try Honesty
The Postal Service - Nothing Better
Smile Empty Soul - Nowhere Kids

If you want to play tourist in SF, read
this. I've never walked across the Golden Gate Bridge, rode
a cable car, or had afternoon tea at the Compass Rose in the Westin
St.Francis. If you already live in the Bay Area, who says you can't
splurge and stay at a posh hotel for the weekend.

Interesting article
about Chinese Restaurants. This girl Indigo Som is trying to collect
all the Chinese take out menus out there in the United States, especially
in places where there are very few Asians.

I like this elegant photo of Marilyn Monroe.

I was rummaging through the newspapers again, and found this hilarious
article from the Travel section: Stretch,
sweat and snorkel in style at Tulum's Bikini Boot Camp. You
visit a beach paradise near Cancun and work out for a week. Activities
include yoga, meditation, weight training, body sculpting, jungle
hikes, and ocean swims. Clever concept but sounds more like a yuppie
paradise.

Do you ever get ill at ease feeling? You have your suspicions but
you're not sure but your gut instinct tells you that you're probably
right. You end up feeling an odd mixture of betrayal, dread, and
anger.

My local library was having a book sale and I bought Hollywood Babylon
by Kenneth Anger, a book about past Hollywood scandals for $1. Someone
called the book delicious, malicious fun. We shall see.
I then spent 2 hours trying to compose interesting still life photos.
I've discovered that photography is A LOT of trial and error. I
have a stack of messed up photos. Sigh, what a waste of paper. I
spent 3.5 hours at the photo lab, developing my film. I dunno if
I can finish my depth of field assignment on time. One more semester
of photography in the spring and then I'm gonna take a breather
away from it. Hoping that I'll enjoy it more next semester. It's
always hard learning new things and not get discouraged, especially
when there's lots of struggling and frustration involved.
I went to Emily's birthday dinner at Everett & Jones Barbecue (oooh,
Karmont just told me there's a small one on A Street in Hayward)
in Jack London Square. They have really messy but delish bbq ribs,
possibly the best in the bay area. =d Emily's bf Richard was celebrating
a birthday, too so it was a joint birthday celebration. Some people
were teasing the couple about their 4 year age difference. I don't
think age really matters post-college; once you're working you're
working, it's all the same. A friend of mine told me that I should
date guys that are around 27-29, an age when guys are finally mature
enough and ready to commit to a serious relationship. And where
am I supposed to meet these CUTE older guys??? At the same time,
I should be wary. If a guy is single at 27-29, he's either in between
relationships or he's socially inept.
Thanks Shawna for picking me up and driving me home all the way
back to Hayward. Hope the drama is all resolved.

Haha, this article
is for all my single girl friends who love jewelry. Don't wait for
a guy to come around to buy you jewelry; indulge and get something
yourself. My last ex bought me a silver tear drop Tiffany pendant
for my birthday. Ironically, my friend Heidi who I've known since
3rd grade, gave me the exact same necklace and a matching tear drop
bracelet. Of course, I made my ex return the necklace. Everyone
knows friendships last longer than boyfriends. None of my other
relationships have been serious enough to the jewelry giving stage.
Anyway, my point is if something sparkly catches your eye, buy it
even if you're single. I have a pretty aquamarine pendant that I
bought for myself.

Wow, my friend Noel just sent me a mp3 of his acoustic version of
Lifehouse's Take me Away. His future gf is gonna be one lucky girl
cuz he can spoil her by serenading to her all the time. =) The only
other guy I know who sings pretty well is Heywood.
10.15.03
It's official, my house is on the market now. Anyone want to buy
a house in Hayward?
I love Snoopy! Christo, a Bulgarian artist, pays homage to Charles
Schulz with a doghouse
sculpture which can be seen at the Schulz
Museum in Santa Rosa. Also, one of the Flugtag teams is using
a Snoopy doghouse.

10.14.03
Haha, Eddie called me and told me how he's been antisocial lately.
For me, I'm too busy to have a social life. Bleh, it's just easy
to do my own thing and not keep up touch with people, especially
with people I'm not that close to in the first place and everything
feels superficial. I don't want to waste my time. However, I shouldn't
burn all my bridges cuz I need a support network of people I can
rely on. It's all about balance.

Two interesting articles about the renovated Ferry Building: Return
to splendor and a
Beacon by the bay, if you enjoy architecture and San Francisco
history. Cool tidbit:the Ferry Building was once the second-busiest
passenger terminal in the world, busier than New York's Grand Central
Station or any famous railway station in Paris.

A lot of my friends keep on raving about Lost
in Translation, a new movie starring Bill Murray and directed
by Sofia Coppola. I think lots of people can identify with being
surrounded by lots of people but still feeling utterly lost and
alone. Murray plays a washed-up TV star who's doing a Japanese TV
whiskey commercial. This reminds me of the website Japander,
where American actors and actresses get paid lots of money to be
in Japanese commercials.

I am so full! Just got back from Leslie's BBQ and there was soooo
much yummy food. Ahh, good food and good company; who could ask
for more? There was a yummy fruit salad, flan, Vietnamese spring
rolls, hamburgers, sausages, and Asian cake. I have been deprived
of decent meals the past few months because I'm so busy with work
and school and my mom doesn't have time to cook anymore. Bleh.
OK, Crissy just told me that she's part of the Flugtag team! Ahhh,
she's gonna jump off the pier with all the guys. I told her to make
sure she knew where the closest ER is. I guess jumping off a pier
with a plane isn't as bad as sky diving but I'm worried about flying
debris.
10.10.03
Happy 24th Birthday Helen, my stylish big sis who is away in Boston
for law school. It's hilarious how Mark and I always end up talking
about food at work. I want some ribs! Crissy and I watched Sleepy
Hollow because I've been in love with Johnny Depp since 7th grade.
The movie turned out scarier than I thought (lots of decapitated
heads rolling around) and I could hardly recognize Christina Ricci.

Happy 23rd Birthday Leslie!
Red Bull has a Flugtag
(flying day) contest in San Francisco at Pier 30 on October 25,
2003. Crissy's
friends are building a plane in our garage. I don't see how that
flimsy piece of fiber glass and wood is gonna stay up in the air.
=/ OK, Crissy just told me that the guy who's gonna be in the plane
is wearing a helmet and a lifejacket and the other three guys are
wearing lifejackets, too. This is good to hear. The guys are hoping
that they'll generate enough momentum to get the plane to glide.
Crossing my fingers for them that no one gets hurt.

The Greek
Theatre celebrates 100 years . . . it's hosted numerous graduations
and performances by world famous artists.

I'll admit it; I'm guilty of retail therapy. =p I love going to
boutiques in SF, figuring what unique, cool things I absolutely
must have and buying it for half the price on ebay. Uh oh, I think
I'm addicted to ebay. I just bought three shoulder bags: an Audrey
Hepburn one, a vintagey one of a pin up girl, and a Marilyn Monroe
one.
10.06.03
When I end up with my own house, I want to have beautiful painted
murals.

10.05.03
I spent another day urban hiking around SF but got lazy and took
Muni. Ra, it was super nice day but way too bright for me to take
good photographs. At the Yerba Buena Gardens, they had an Italian
floral mosaic festival, Infiorate.
Artists composed pictures out of flower petals, sorta like what
they do at Rose Parades in Pasadena. Wandered around the Palace
of Fine Arts and saw all these runners from some marathon that day.
I stumbled upon the Castro
Street Fair but didn't stay too long cuz I get claustrophobic
and it was crowded. How come there are so many cute gay guys???
Heehee. Walked around the Haight and got a yummy strawberry orange
smoothie at one of the cafes. I refused to get one at Ben and Jerrys,
not only is it overpriced but it's a chain store. Boo. Roamed around
City Hall and then window shopped a bit around Union Square.

It was Fashion Week about two weeks ago in New York City. Read Sylvia
Rubin's Runway Diaries to get some insight about the latest trends
and some behind the scenes gossip.

Funny how life works out. You think you'll never talk to someone
ever again . . . but 3.5 years later you do.

Cool article
about how Leonardo da Vinci is a trendy cultural commodity.

I am going to combined my scattered thoughts and updates
into one page from now on. You can still read both of the archives;
the links are to the left.
School, photography, and work have been keeping me quite busy.
On Tuesdays, I'm usually in the dark room for at least six hours
but having an absolute blast. I plan on taking another photography
class next semester.
Crossing my fingers that I don't get too burnt out this quarter.
Sitting in a class for 3.5 straight hours is no easy task not mentioning
I have 4 classes each week. At least I'm rewarded this breath taking
view on my drive home, millions of lights below and the San Mateo
bridge in the distance. I fell in love with that same view 21 years
ago as a 2 year old, staring out the car window after my dad and
I picked up my mom from accounting class. Haha, of course I don't
get to watch the view as intently as I did 21 years ago cuz now
I'm in the driver seat.
