DAY 5: JUNE 2, 2002 - THE RHINE VALLEY, GERMANY

Geographic landmarks: Rhine River

Tourist traps we conquered:
  1. St. Goar: I love how quaint and cottagey all the houses are and the narrow alley ways, perfect for exploring. St. Goar has the largest beer stein and hanging cuckoo clock.
  2. Lorelei rock
Activities:
  1. A river cruise along the Rhine Valley, where castles and vineyards dotted the hills. I saw a small castle that reminded me of the Shrek Castle.

Newsflash: not all the hotels have elevators. Dragging my suitcase up a rocky hill was an interesting experience. Oh wells, at least I'm working out my arms.

I saw lots of motorcycles, BMWs, and Benzes, not surprisingly since we're in Germany and near the autobahn (a freeway with no speed limit). After being in Amsterdam, I liked how St. Goar was more quiet. I was able to explore on my own without feeling paranoid. There were lots of shops selling handmade teddy bears; ironically, they were expensive and not very cute looking. Germans eat a lot of meat, especially sausage.
