I finally got around to taking some of my frequently ignored clothing items to Crossroads Trading. They took 6 tops, which is a record sale for me. Sweet.
Walking back with my rejects, I had this brilliant mental *ding* (complete with lightbulb imagery). I hate seeing good clothes go to waste, so I thought it’d be a great idea to post what I don’t want online and see who wants it. “For free?” I asked myself. “Am I that generous?” Well, if I know you, I suppose I’d be willing to just give it away. “Better yet,” I thought. “Why not swap?” This way I can refresh my closet too. So, the brilliant idea that eventually formulated was to create an online clothing swap site, much like online book swap sites I’ve seen. The only cost would be shipping the items. Environmentally conscious fashion! Alas, my genius comes too slowly. There is already such a site. It’s called SwapStyle. There’s also WhatsMineIsYours. Ah well.
This Clothing Swap event looks mighty fun (and leftover clothing gets donated!). I don’t feel fashionable enough to attend though.
Eco-friendly style resources: TreeHugger (How to Buy a Green Sex Toy :-))and StyleWillSaveUs. Bamboo clothing (so pretty)?
Hi, I’m Lillian and I’m a pop culture addict.
Sooo. Interesting article.
My evening not so well spent: Googling Asian male celebrities. My verdict: Daniel Henney blows my mind. Cute costar too. With a slight nod towards Leehom Wang. Gerard Way (though not Asian), the slightly freakish lead singer of My Chemical Romance, is a continued reason for me to ogle. I’m not sure why. The eye makeup? The excessively boyish, feminine face? I’d like to say it’s the eyes.
Okay. I’d rather not fess up to how many hours I spend on this kind of shit. It’s somewhat embarrassing.
Btw, Youtube guitarists (continue to) make me smile. Exhibit 1 (George Michael-Faith), 2 (TLC-No Scrubs), 3 (Corinne Bailey Rae-Put Your Records On). 4 (John Mayer-Neon), 5 (The Fray-How to Save a Life), 6 (David Choi-That Guy). I love the vocals on #5. #4=beautiful guitar work. Davidchoi, who is quite the YouTube celebrity, is obviously awesome (especially because his sense of humor makes me go “LOL”). It’s no wonder he works for Warner Chappell at 21. I aspire to make guitar a real hobby of mine.
Paper or plastic? Not any more in San Francisco.
The city’s Board of Supervisors approved groundbreaking legislation Tuesday to outlaw plastic checkout bags at large supermarkets in about six months and large chain pharmacies in about a year.

[Aside: Goooo canvas bags! I find them rather sexy.]
Things I am currently obsessed with:
- muffins
- cinnamon, sugary goodness (i.e. cinnamon rolls)
I am also currently trying to eat less meat (to reduce my planetary impact). I say this as I stuff a chicken stir fry into my mouth. *chomp*
I thought maybe I was allergic to dairy, but that still doesn’t explain why I can eat Breyer’s ice cream (so good). I am however trying to reduce cheese intake…leading me on the path to becoming vegan (noooooo). It’s painful to have to shun favored dishes such as pizza, pesto, lasagna, cream sauces and nachos.
Oh cheese, I am going to miss you sorely.
Side note, Fenton’s was slightly disappointing. My milkshake was too sweet and half melted when it came out. The cookies were too chunky and tasted more like cookie dough than actual cookie. Bleh. I still believe Vic’s is the best I’ve had (go Sacramento!).
Oh yeah, I got a stomachache after Fenton’s. I’m not sure whether to blame it on the cheeseburger or milkshake…or french fries? (notice how I ate meat again)
Hm. So it’s break time. I get the urge to sing the “Gimme a break!” song from Kit Kat commercials of yonder times.
Anyways. I allowed myself to have a completely carefree day. No tasks to do. A real break.
So, I just finished viewing Roman Holiday. Brief synopsis: Princess Ann (Audrey Hepburn) runs away from her life of royal drudgery to spend a day wandering Rome with a handsome journalist (Gregory Peck) who pretends he doesn’t know she’s a princess in order to get the story of his lifetime. But, oh no, what’s this? They decide to fall in love. Hence, it is an old school romantic comedy. Cute and predictable. I think I still prefer Singin’ in the Rain and/or It’s a Wonderful Life as far as classics go.
My favorite screenshot:

I spent the rest of the day perusing YouTube and busting out some mad moves on my guitar. Well, the latter part of that sentence was a lie. I busted out my guitar, but spent the entire time relearning how to sight read. I got through a whole TWO strings worth of notes. Can we say w00t?
Reasons I want to play the guitar in no particular order (links go to YouTube covers):
- Muse-Time is Running Out (one of my favorite Muse tunes)
- Outkast-Heya (amazing)
- David Choi-That Girl (the original is pretty awesome too)
- Usher & Alicia Keys-My Boo
- Cyndi Lauper-Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
- Michelle Branch-Goodbye to You
- Michael Jackson-The Way You Make Me Feel (this person also does awesome versions of Oasis, Radiohead and Muse)
- Linkin Park-Numb
- Super Mario Medley (acoustic style)
- Pachelbel-Canon (!!)
To top off my unproductive day, I took some personality tests. After two Meyers-Brigg type deals, I got ESFP (extroverted, sensing, feeling, perceiving). According to the Riso-Hudson Eanneagram Type Indicator (RHETI), I am a type 3 (motivator). I also scored the highest in compliant traits (followed by assertive) on a Social Variant test. I do enjoy self-exploration.
I’ve been listening to Last.fm radio a lot recently. It’s a great way to sample music.
I decided to listen to my “personal radio station” today, which basically plays a random mix of the songs I have tracked on my profile. It’s a fairly good representation of what I listen to. Anyways, I thought that was basically the bees knees.
Radio Lillian: linky.
I gave up my current position as Center Supervisor for next year. I’m already starting to feel replaced.
I’m not sure why it’s such a negative feeling. Maybe it’s the fear that she will be better than me. Maybe it’s the feeling my staff will like her more. I can see why it’d be tough to go back to being a regular ole Assistant after being Supervisor. *sigh* She’ll be great. I just need to learn to let go. My precious center! Ah!
On a side note, I’ve always wanted to put all my titles/positions into a short little signature to my emails. I almost did in August of last year, but it just looks like bragging to me. Sometimes I don’t know if I want everyone I email to know where I work. Not to criticize anyone who uses signatures. I’m always impressed by them.
P.S. I will be the TPA for the Environment House next year, which basically means I will be an RA+some. Yay!
