Another quick, easy recipe I’m liking.
Ingredients:
Couscous
Tomato
Cucumber
Wine Vinegar
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Broth/Broth Base
Pine Nuts or Chopped Almonds (opional, but so good)
Directions: Bring to boil as much broth/base as there is couscous (i.e. 1 cup liquid for 1 cup couscous). Pour in couscous, stir, take off heat, cover and let sit until fluffy. Fluff with a fork/spoon when done. Dice cucumber and tomatoes. Throw everything together with as much olive oil and vinegar as you like. Add salt and pepper to taste.
I made this with celery and a small quantity of veggie broth base (as I don’t like things too salty). Other ingredients which I’m sure taste great are chopped chicken, olives, feta cheese, parsley and green onions.
This one’s not in Berkeley, but in Walnut Creek. I had the joy of going shopping with a high school friend, Melissa! What a yuppy place the Broadway Plaza Shopping Center is. It’s complete with a Tiffany & Co, Williams Sonoma and Restoration Hardware. Sheesh. Well, after eating at this Mexican restaurant and then reading Yelp reviews, I am wanting to eat real Mexican food. I thought it was pretty good. I had a chimichanga. I agree the prices are a bit high for Mexican.
I love split pea soup. It’s simple and nutritious (and cheap!).
Ingredients:
1lb bag dried split peas
6 cups water
2-3 stalks celery
2-3 carrots
1 small onion (optional)
1 tsp bouillon
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp thyme
sprinkle of salt
Directions: Heat up pot with some oil. Chop veggies. Toss in pan and allow to brown. Add water, bouillon, pepper, thyme, salt and peas to pot. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat & simmer until soup thickens. Makes many servings (I’m guessing 3-4). YUM!
My first tapas restaurant! It’s in between Chez Panisse and the swanky Epicurious Gardens food court. Much thanks to Alex’s mom for one of the best dinners I’ve had in awhile. We had the little gem lettuce, anchovies, fried potatoes and paella, with the organic strawberries & rose cream for dessert. The strawberries were sooo good as they were drenched in rose water. I definitely recommend this place. Then again, I think my company also made the experience worthwhile.

I want/need new shoes. My feet=flat & wide.
Dressy. Casual. Running. Chaco’s! *sigh*
Someone caught me on film and put it on YouTube. Well, not just me, but I am in a crowd…dancing. -_-’ I look like a dumbass.
I feel…inadequate (which really should read “I feel ugly”).
P.S. Here’s the video. It’s from the Superb Ratatat concert, which was…alright. There were a few hipster assholes in front of me whose crazy dancing knocked over a few people.
I just noticed I had my underwear on incorrectly. Haha.
My motivation for being a productive, sane individual is waning with each summer day. Oh no!
Even though I have yet to see Chungking Express (I am planning to check it out on my next library visit), My Blueberry Nights sounds intriguing. The plot description is a little vague, but the big name director (English debut of Wong Kar-wai) and interesting/beautiful cast (Norah Jones, Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, Natalie Portman and Cat Power??) piqued my curiosity.
I finally have time to indulge in some decent movie madness. Yes!
I currently have “AWWWW” written all over my face. I can’t help myself. I fall for romance every single time and this movie is so sugary sweet. I’ll admit, I sniffled towards the end. Mandy Moore’s character is cute, to say that least. This was exactly what I was expecting (i.e. boy dislikes girl, boy gets to know girl, boy falls in love with girl) and I am happy to say (with a huge grin) that I got what I wanted.
