About the Magnolia Project

The Magnolia Project is a student, staff and faculty initiative committed to raise on-campus awareness of the injustices surrounding Hurricane Katrina and to serve the disenfranchised, low-income communities of the region by organizing service trips and internships, advocating for political campaigns, and providing support and mini-grants to non-profits in the area. We are a resource for all campus members who feel compelled to take action.

We are Berkeley students who are motivated by our personal experiences to advocate a more comprehensive approach to rebuilding the Gulf Coast. We emphasize not only understanding the causes and consequences of Katrina, but also its larger implications in the Bay Area and nationwide.

If you would like to get involved, contact any of the chairs.

Words of Wisdom
