The Idiot Parade have been playing parties and clubs, including Malone's and
the Fireside Lounge, in the Norwalk, Downey, Cerritos, Costa Mesa and Santa Ana
areas since March of 1996. But much like the african wildebeast, the band migrates
around and has also toured several times in Northern California - in San Jose, Merced,
and Bakersfield. The 9.23.96 Berkeley show left eleven people asking for some change on
Telegraph, they may still be there to this day.
To date, the band discography contains two cassette only LPs, one 7" vinyl EP,
and an hour length video.
Much like most disenchanted youth, this band hails from the pissing grounds of the Greater
Los Angeles area. Members are from HB, Cerritos, San Dimas, and "da LBC". Yes, we
put a lot of miles on our cars.
Musically the band plays aggressive punk rock music influenced by heavy metal, jazz, reggae,
and older style rock and roll. Although some of their lyrics are aimed at
society, covert oppression, and The Man (i.e. overly aggressive policemen, the
overreach of authority ala the California Republican's 1984 attitude - where is your
MiniTruth, Pete Wilson?), the band pursues a strictly individualistic sound
and attitude (partly 'cause we don't agree on anything), and does not force any political
agenda (except what should be forced).
All five of the band members write songs and lyrics.
