2012 Admissions Policy

The 2012 Admissions Policy is the new set of admissions requirements which the University of California system uses when considering prospective freshman applicants.

Students' qualifications will be assessed using campus-based review processes, which emphasize academic achievement but also account for a wide range of personal accomplishments and educational contexts." (Source)

The following three requirements, if fulfilled by California high school seniors, will entitle their applications to a comprehensive review:

15 completed UC-required college-prep (a-g) courses, of which 11 must be complete by the end of their Junior year 3.0 GPA or Higher in these courses. These requirements can be found here.
ACT with Writing OR SAT Reasoning Test only. (SAT Subject Test/SAT II no longer required, but instead recommended.)
Students who fall in the top 9% of all its graduates statewide and within their own high school graduating class are guaranteed admission somewhere in the UC system. Due to varying selectivity, a student's admission chances vary are different among the UC campuses.
