WELCOME!!!
PASS (Pilipino Academic Student Services) is an entirely student-run recruitment & retention center at the University of California Berkeley! We're here for every step of your journey--from elementary school to life after college :) Check us out!!

INTERNAL AFFAIRS
Since 1996, PASS has been divided into three components. All of these components work together to build a cohesive community for current students to be a part of and prospective students of all ages to explore. One of these components is the Internal Affairs component. The Internal component of PASS consists of five positions. These positions include: Executive Director, Assistant Director of Internal Affairs, Finance Coordinator, Public Relations Coordinator, and Advocacy Coordinator. Together we are like the "internal" skeleton of PASS. Between these five positions, all programs are overseen, interns are trained and cultivated into leaders, accounts are strategically budgeted and all PASS related events are publicized. One of our prime duties is to provide aide and support to the other components' numerous activities and events.

Working with bridges

PASS is one of five multicultural recruitment and retention centers here at Berkeley. Through the bridges multicultural resource center, PASS collaborates with the BRRC, RAZA, NAARC, and REACH! to share strategies and work together to put on events like One Week and Senior Weekend.
Check out the websites of each of these organizations and bridges to find out more about the Retention and Recruitment Centers at Cal.

Internship Program

A great way to get accustomed to the Pilipino community at Cal and in the Bay Area. The purpose of the PASS internship is to give students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, gain in-depth knowledge of the operations of PASS and be involved in the Pilipino Community. Each intern may choose a focus of involvement among the components of recruitment, retention, and internal affairs. Interns will head/organize and assist staff with several projects throughout the semester. And units may be offered for the internship.
Check back with us soon to find out how to apply for an internship with PASS for the Fall semester!
Or contact Assistant Director of Internal Affairs Nicole Fernandez for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities

Without our volunteers, we're nothing. Find out how you can participate in planning and executing some of PASS's biggest events! PASS offers numerous volunteer opportunities. We strive to create a welcoming space where volunteers can feel ownership of PASS’s events. Volunteers are always welcome at planning meeting and are invited to facilitate workshops, to provide suggestions or feedback, or to just be present to help out in any way possible. Volunteers are especially needed at: Bay Area high school and community college outreaches, Filipino Empowerment Day, Pathways, southern California outreaches, PANAMA, Senior Weekend, Shadow Days and at the Filipino Education Center in San Francisco.
Contact us or any individual staff member to find out how you can be involved!

Public Relations, Reporting, History, Archiving

From website design to tabling, from e-mails to old fashioned word-of-mouth, Public Relations gets the word out about PASS and its many programs. And through photography, journalistic reporting, and historical research PASS remembers its past and records its history as it happens.
Contact Public Relations Coordinator Tiffany Sy if you are interested in learning more!

Advisory Board

Comprised of past PASS staff members, community leaders and knowledgable students, the Advisory Board serves as an ultimate resource to our staff. The advisory board is composed of eight members connected to the UC Berkeley Pilipino community and helps PASS to:

  • To challenge and reevaluate PASS’s programs
  • To provide institutional knowledge
  • To act as liaisons to other staff, faculty, alumni, and other off-campus resources
  • To hold coordinators accountable to the staff’s semester and annual goals
  • To assist in seeking additional funding for PASS
