Every year, PASS's Shadow program holds a Shadow Night where students from underresourced communities have the opportunity in coming over and spending a night on campus, learning about campus life, issues, and requirements, while also attending the region-wide conference Filipino Empowerment Day the following day.
A 1 night, 2-day event in which community college students from the Bay Area are invited spend a weekend in UC Berkeley. During this weekend, the students are given an overview of campus life through campus tours, interest workshops, and by shadowing mentors throughout the day to their classes, while also being given the tools and information to transfer to the university system through student panels and admissions workshops.
An event held in conjunction with the other recruitment and retention centers of bridges. Its purpose is to provide students of color with information about higher education. We provide workshops, campus tours and student panels on SHADOW Days.
An opportunity for high school students and community college students to get to know about the college admissions, lifestyle, and issues by giving students the chance to visit UC Berkeley and spending day/days with a mentor, and developing a bond with the campus and empowering them to pursue higher education. Through the program, students have the chance to participate in: Campus Tours, Admissions/Financial Aid/Application/Interest Workshops, Shadowing and Auditing a Class, Trip through Berkeley and the Bay, Staying overnight at a Host's Dorm/Apartment. All this is for free (including food), except transportation to and from the University.
