Beautiful coins have been around for over 2700 years. From the earliest beginnings of coinage (Lydia, around B.C. 800), to the great masterpieces of the Hellenic city-states, and finally to decline and debasement under a crumbling Roman Empire, they have been the ambassadors of civilization.
