PlaNet - The International Network for Planning Students

PlaNet's main goal is to encourage co-operation between young planning students by promoting the exchange of ideas, cultures and practical experiences within the field of planning. The student network was founded in 1996 when a group of eager Portuguese students invited planning students from all over Europe for a meeting to discuss urban development.

While the membership is primarily European, there are groups in Canada and the US. The new PlaNet group at University of California Berkeley is the second in the United States.

Today PlaNet is represented in:

Austria
Canada
Denmark
France
Germany
Greece
Italy
Poland
Portugal
USA

The Organization

PlaNet groups interact at the annual PlaNet congress. Each year, the last day of the congress is set-aside to the Council Meeting. The Council is PlaNet's coordinating forum and members from different local groups are elected to represent the coordinating chairs, such as the Coordinator and the Webmaster.

At the Council Meeting it is also decided who should host next year's International PlaNet Congress. The local group elected now make up the new congress team and are responsible for preparing and organizing the forthcoming congress.

PlaNet's website shows a list of current local groups, and PlaNet Copenhagen has a great map showing the European chapters.

Join the Network!
PlaNet is a non-commercial student network and all students of all nationalities are welcomed. Please visit the international PlaNet website to read more about how to join the network.
