Introduction
Qualifications In order to be considered an active member, you need to fulfill four events, whether be it DEOP, heading a committee, or most importantly, community service. If you are absent for two meetings, you can make up for it by participating in extra events. We hope you all become active members and take advantage of all the benefits the community service program has to offer. Activities
Contacts Once the school year has begun, we will be posting a more comprehensive list of the activities on the events page. Please contact our Co-Community Service Officers for additional information regarding our community service activities - Elizabeth Koo (ekoo.at.berkeley.edu) and Aileen Reyes (aileenreyes.at.berkeley.edu). |
The Pre-Dental Society not only provides students with a complete perspective on dentistry through hosting numerous informational panels and guest speakers, but also through gaining experience and exposure to numerous outreach activities in the Bay Area. As future dentists, the community service program helps us develop our communication skills as well as build great relationships with local organizations and individuals. These qualities are ideal in this profession, where one is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of patients from the community.
In the past, we have participated and organized several events such as the Thanksgiving Toiletry Drive, which distributes the donations to local women and children shelters. We also have been involved in the American Red Cross Blood Drive and collaborated with the club Eggster during their annual Easter egg hunt on campus. Lastly, we have held presentations about maintaining proper hygiene at the UC Village Health Fair. We will continue to participate in these outreach activities and also introduce several new events such as volunteering in Bay Area homeless shelters, the YMCA, and America Walks for Diabetes. Please continue to check on our website, for we will be frequently posting upcoming events.
