PTPS is proud to offer different workshops for high school students for Spring 2012. Our workshops are meticulously planned and executed by our instructors, and are critical for college preparation. Registration for each workshop is available online; the workshops are open to any interested students, and are completely free of charge. Please register in advance in order to guarantee a spot. Please attend workshops with note-taking materials and questions, in order to make the best of your time.

| 3/3 | 9am-1pm | SAT 101 | The goal of this workshop is to provide an informative 2 hour session
which will serve as an introduction to the SAT I for students and parents.
Overview about the exam, as well as general strategies and tips, will be discussed.

| 3/10 | 9am-1pm | Mock ACT | Mock exams are crucial for students that are preparing for the ACT, as they provide a realistic experience that will very closely mimic actual testing environments. Please note that you must be ON TIME for mock exams, as we will not be able to accommodate and accurately time latecomers. -Full length ACT exam -Realistic proctoring and testing environment -Explanation of scoring methods |
| 3/17 | 10am-12pm | Verbal Strategies | The goal of this workshop is to provide an in-depth look at the verbal portion of the SAT I.
Instructors will discuss the types of sections and questions presented, and
the strategies necessary to master these questions. Students will approach problems step-by-step
with the instructor, and take home valuable skills regarding vocabulary, writing, and critical
reading. -general overview of sections and types of questions -example problems from each type of question worked out step-by-step -strategies and tips for each section -essay outline -where to get help/find resources |
| 4/7 | 10am-12pm | College Gateway | This workshop will give students and their parents a glimpse into today’s competitive college application process. We will discuss the different components of the process, such as the Common app, application fees/fee waivers, and teacher recommendations.
