- Alameda County Source
Reduction and Recycling Board
(STOPWASTE) - Fees from local garbage disposal fund the agencies which run this website. Their goal: to Stop Waste. They provide information resources as well as develop and run innovative waste management programs. UC Berkeley has also gotten grants from the agency to do waste analyses and other special projects.
- The Ecology Center
- The Ecology Center is a Berkeley institution that deals with all sorts of
ecology issues.
- America
Recycles Day - Nationally recognized day proclaimed in the hopes that Americans will celebrate and think about recycling. Also details the impacts that recycling has on the public.
- Wastewatch (UK)
- Waste Watch is the national organization that works with community groups, local authorities and industry to educate, inform and raise awareness on waste reduction, reuse and recycling. Based in the UK, it still has valuable resources.

Department of Conservation, Division of Recycling
- The Department of Conservation, Division of Recycling administers the California Beverage Container Recycling and Litter Reduction Act (Act) enacted in 1986. Information on here goes over pertinent legislation, the CRV and bottle bill, and other state information.
- College and University Recycling Council
- The College and University Recycling Council (CURC) was formed in 1992 and became a technical council of the National Recycling Coalition in 1995. CURC is a network of campus-based recycling professionals who face similar challenges and opportunities in managing college and university programs.
- California Integrated
Waste Management Board (CIWMB) - The six-member Integrated Waste Management Board is responsible for protecting the public's health and safety and the environment through management of the estimated 60 million tons of solid waste generated in California. The board coordinates local agencies in their efforts to meet the state-legislated 50 percent diversion rate.
- US
Solid Waste Characterization (EPA) - This report, the latest in an ongoing series, describes the national waste stream based on data collected from 1960 through 1996. It separates the waste generated into categories. Enlightening information.
- City
of Berkeley Solid Waste Division - The City of Berkeley's Waste Division. If you live off of campus property, your recycling and refuse services are handled by the City. Find out how to start service for your apartment's recycling and more.
- Californians Against
Waste - Established in 1977, Californians Against Waste (CAW) is a nonprofit grassroots organization that has grown to represent the interests of more than 24,000 Californians. It is the leading California non-profit that deals with all aspects of the waste stream, including legislation, advocacy, outreach, etc.
- East Bay Conservation Corps
- East Bay Conservation Corps uses service-learning as an interactive,
experiential education model that integrates formal academic instruction
with community service. They currently provide beverage container recycling collection services
to the campus.
