It's Baaaaaccccck
Check it out everyone, the DJ Decal is back this semester! It will be held on Wednesdays from 5-6pm in 122 Barrows. If you are interested in joining the class, please send an email to hiphopdjdecal at gmail dot com with the following: your name, year/standing at berkeley, and a paragraph explaining why you want to take the class. We can only have 20 students in this section so please take time with your paragraph: we only want people who are really committed to take the decal. It is only fun and rewarding if you can devote some time and energy to it!
(further info: this Decal is put on by Students for Hip-Hop to show people who have never DJed what it takes to be that person who many take for granted. We delve into not only the practical, technical, and physical aspects of DJing, but we also discuss the social impact that the artform has had on youth culture. From the role DJs had in helping unite gay communities to their instrumental position in the formation of Hip-Hop, we will look at why DJing should not be dismissed as a pointless activity.
You will receive 1 unit for the class. We meet once a week for a 1 hour 'lecture' plus another 1 hour, one-on-one section time with one of the class TAs. (TAs are more experienced DJs selected by the course. They receive 2 units. Oh yeah...anybody wanna TA? Hit up that gmail account too!))
