g-ma's bday III

Hi everyone,
Congrats to Rash for matching at a wonderful program! I will be able to make to the G-Ma bday bash thankfully (with a few swaps in my schedule.) I still have no clue what to get her though I would like to make it personal and possibly "home-made." It's going to be a fun party, though I'm not sure how fancy it'll be. A spring dress sounds nice Preeti. I was thinking of wearing indian clothes for lack of a better option. On the wedding front, things are going well. We are starting to hash out the details of the day and have realized we might need a few extra people for PR and guest relations etc. Any volunteers? Duties would include greeting guests with a friendly smile and putting out any shahfamily fires. Other areas of employment include helping with centerpieces, decor and personal touches...
Will keep you posted, Sonia

hi everyone,
wow it's cool to hear that hero is such a well behaved celebrity! maybe you can get a videoclip of her performance so we all can see her in action. well stuff here is going fine - the new interns started a few days ago and needless to say they are a bit shaky. it doubles the work for the residents but i'm sure they will catch on quickly. and now i become a senior ... pretty scary. i participated in my first drug rep dinner last month. we went to a chic sushi place on sunset blvd. i'm sure it was at least a couple of hundred bucks per person. it was delicious and i don't even like fish that much.
in other news, the date for the wedding is 99% set, june 4th 2006. we tried to bump it up to june 11th but the place is booked on all weekends through september. the wedding biz is crazy. we'll be getting married at the adamson house in malibu. it's sort of like an outdoor garden near the beach.
bye for now! sonia

floating along

hi guys,

the wedding planning phase is now well underway. my parents are really excited about everything, esp mom. dad seems a little queesy about the budget but he'll recover. i can't wait to have everyone together, it'll be a big family reunion i hope. anil has taken the position of wedding manager and is going to write up most of the ceremony and take care of the budget and contracts. i'm his humble "employee" and i get to focus on clothes and decor, the fun stuff. we're in the brainstorming phase and are open to all ideas. if you guys have suggestions (i haven't been to many weddings, actually only 2 so far) then i'm all ears. i'm esp looking for creative ideas to make the wedding unique. i got my sparkly ring sized and back from the jeweller and now i can flash it around. i was a little nervous that it would look funny because they had to take it down 2 sizes but i love it. anil and i are going to new york and boston (hi rash!) next week, mostly for vacation and to scope out the law schools. looks like we'll be moving to new york pretty soon, skyscrapers and all. otherwise i'm still a crazy resident seeing crazy patients...

hello

hello cousin-sisters! i also highly recommend the namesake, it's a great read - even better than interpreter of maladies. complications is also pretty good. well i'm almost done with the CCU. it's been brutal, every morning i 've gone to the hospital for the past 4 days one of my patients has died. it's a little stressful though in retrospect i realize that we treated each patient as best we could. they were all old and in fact i suspect 2 of them were brain dead and we were just keeping their hearts and lungs working. there have been some victories too though, including one 60 year old man who came in with a massive heart attack and just last week walked out of the hospital in almost tiptop shape. next i start my research project which will be in electrophysiology, i'll leave it at "cardiac nerve sprouting after heart attacks." it'll be a refreshing change from clinical work and thankfully i'll be sleeping in most days and working on my own schedule. anil is busy applying to law schools, he's chosen 8 all around the country (xc michigan, sorry manasee it's a great school but we don't want to live in freezing cold ann arbor.) i am guessing he'll be moving away from la next year. happy adventures everyone - sonia

hello

hi all,
well it's pretty crazy here being a resident - kind of fun but also stressful since i'm in the intensive care unit and i still feel like i just graduated from medical school. anyways i do get more time off these days and i spent the better part of yesterday lying around on santa monica beach. i'm q3 like rash though but only for another week and a half. preeti you must be busy preparing for the big move, it's an amazing opportunity to live in another country and i can't wait to visit (i'm off in nov by the way - there are family plans cooking to raid preeti's house right?) bye for now everyone --sonia

hello all

this is quite an excellent website, hats off to angilee. i noticed rashy had a hard time figuring out the contant info thing, she's still not posted. by the way rashmee you absolutely at all costs cannot change the date of your boards. it's just not allowed. the boards are not as bad as you think. anyways, i'm now rotating at the va hospital which is turning out to be pretty hectic. the nursing staff is horrible and they love bugging the interns about every single little thing, doesn't matter the time. well in 3 weeks it'll be smooth sailing. i have vacation and er which are easy. and we have our yearly retreat next week which is when all the residents go to arrowhead for 3 days and hang out. i have a feeling things are going to get a little crazy since it's been a while since most of us interns have had 3 whole days off in a row. angie when are you coming home? and manasee, you'll be here friday right? okay gals, talk to you later.
