Fellow Student Parents:
Hi!  My name is Lea and I have a one year old daughter, Carolina Bianca.  After my first semester at Cal, I found out I was pregnant with my first child, which ended up leading me on a rather unexpected path here at Cal.  I don’t think I would still be here at Cal if it wasn’t for all the support and resources Alice and other student parents gave me.  When I first decided that I wanted to stay in school and be a mom, I was completely overwhelmed, but with the help of Alice and other student parents, I was able to get through it all.  This is where I came to get help finding an ob, a pediatrician, daycare, housing, and information to finance it all!  I think the most important thing I gained though from getting involved with the Student Parent Center inspiration!  The amount of support I received from other student parents and Alice was invaluable. Just meeting people who had young children and had overcome great obstacles to be here at Cal but where doing it made me feel like, “hey, ok, I can do this,” and when it has gotten tough and I feel like maybe I can’t anymore, there is always someone to talk to help you get through.
