(4) : Excerpt's Incredibly Nostalgia-Inducing, Too: I know it's Flash, but the site for Then We Came to the End by Joshua Ferris has an okay conceit with very good implementation. The video reminds me more of Salon than I could have imagined -- I believe I used the exact same model of phone. And I love the music. I've been leaving the page open in the background while doing other things and just looping the music; that's how much I like the music. As good a book promo site as Miranda July's for No One Belongs Here More Than You, which references it.

Just curious. Is the description "okay conceit" correct, a typo or a Freudian slip?

It's correct. I think the gimmick of the site (in different rooms of the office, the setting of the book, you get to see different stuff) is not jaw-droppingly original, but very well-executed. I can see how that would seem like a typo, but I'd love to hear the "Freudian slip" interpretation.

I had thought your original intent was to write that it "has an okay *concept*" but that your presumed subconscious dislike of Joshua Ferris' vanity intervened between brain and fingers. (I've never read any of Mr. Ferris work and so was curious)

Aha! Thanks.
