Superseniors and seniors on their winter break ski trip. After a tough semester working hard in all our school studies, the seniors and super-seniors planned a trip to the mountains to kick off winter vacation. Actually it was mostly just the super-seniors, with the exception of Elliot and me. Most of the other seniors had already booked their flights home and couldn't stay for our December 20-22 trip (MCB majors always seem to get all their finals done really early.... hmm...). . The drive up was tumultuous, as we got up in the midst of a snow storm. Several feet had fell in the previous days, and the power at my cabin had been knocked out. While the first two cars of people waited at the Rainbow Lodge, Elliot and I tried to trample a path to the cabin and start a fire.... much easier said than done when in waste deep snow blocked by fallen trees. When the others started getting in, the power miraculously came back to life. While it would flicker on and off throughout the trip, we were blessed to have it when we needed it.

Take some time for fellowship and worship on Lake Tahoe The morning after getting up to the cabin, we headed out to the slopes... with a minor morning delay. During the night probably 2-3 feet of fresh snow buried the car and we had to struggle just to dig it out. Check out the picture at the bottom, those five guys had to push the car out after digging all the snow off. Another note about skiing in fresh snow... make sure that your car has a heater. BURRR. . The snow was fresh and absolutely beautiful at Northstar. All the trees were freshly covered, and all the crash landings were nice and soft.... well... with the exception of Yunon's fall. Slipping coming off of a cross trail, she dislocated her shoulder and ended her day early with a sled ride down the hill. Man, I felt so bad for her, but she managed to keep cheerful even in those circumstances. It really made me admire her character and courage.
That night, some of us ate in the blackout at the cabin, and several people put together a great stew which we cooked over the fireplace. The next day, we hung out at a pier on Lake Tahoe. Fellowship amongst such beauty, I just couldn't help be thankful for the love our Lord shares with us, and how he pulls us towards him in wonderful ways everyday. |
